AHS 1,440 #1 Posted June 3, 2023 It’s my nice (old?) work truck, its hauled many of Wheelhorses during its lifetime!!! It’s got 130k on it. I changed the rear end oil at 75-80k, and this morning. It’s got a limited slip rear end. 3.5 quarts of 75-90 and limited slip additive is what the book calls for. So i changed it with Lucas synthetic 75-90 and the limited slip. Ive got about 20 miles on the rear end since its change… and it chatters around corners. Does it need break in time? 1,000 miles or so? I was kinda worried when i heard it chatter. Now the limited slip additive says to use 1 bottle on rear end up to 4 quarts…and it says not to use anymore! I think im just gonna drive it… its got 3.5 qts of 75-90 plus the limited slip additive. cleat 5,986 #4 Posted June 3, 2023 Well, I figured it might need new clutch packs anyway so I had nothing to lose by trying. I drove it for several years like that and it seemed fine. My new truck has an e-locker so no limited slip to worry about. The limited slip in my 1986 Mustang GT has been trouble free since new. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
