Diesel RJ

Recommended Posts

Although I have the original Kohler & a 2nd era correct Kohler (shout out & thanks to Buckeyes from this forum- he gave me engine!) for my RJ I decided for the time being I'm gonna install a 196cc ebay diesel. Since hood has been trimmed & I don't have an original fuel tank I thought I'd go the diesel engine route. Might be more cost effective to just buy a correct, restored RJ?  Should be interesting.

If it will fit where the K-91 went then I don't see any problem doing it. May be some interfearance with the muffler and hood stand but that can be worked out.

Wow, same footprint as a Predator 6.5 hp I take it?  Nice!

It looks like it will fit right in. I'll probably relocate fuel tank or replace it with another tank. Wanna try to utilize the original opening in the hood for stock fuel filler.

I already have a predator sitting in garage for the Suburban. I'm doing the rat rod theme. I'll clean up & paint wheels, I'm gonna have an old school striper pinstripe hood & fenders in red & almond white Wheel Horse colors them I'll clear coat the rust. I'm going to order stage 2 kit for predator so it will have a k&n filter & straight pipe. Might also cover seat w/vinyl & some studs along with some fringe.

Really interesting.

I see by the collection in the background you seem to be, or have been involved in  RC hobbies.  I used to race RC boats a long time ago.  What is the story on the 4 mono hulls hanging there?

As far as the rc stuff, it's another out of control hobby. 3 of the 4 boats are Proboat products from Horizon Hobby. Gray boat is a real jet drive- it's really fun in the rapids. The yellow boat is an older Thunder Tiger outlaw. All are brushless electric. Also have an Oxydean Marine Animal catamaran that goes over 100mph. For what I paid for that it stays in the house with a few other of my really expensive rc stuff. Keep my Sea Ray up at the Lake Erie islands so I usually have the rc boats up there.

Added oil & took some time to bleed out high pressure fuel injection pump. After that- 3rd pull & it fired up. It even rolls some coal! Lol. Gonna be fun in the RJ! Unfortunately I can't get video of engine running downloaded

I'm in.  I almost bought one of these engines to put on my Troy-Bilt Bronco tiller last week.  I went with a Predator out of sheer convenience but I may change it up after seeing this.  Hopefully your video comes through.
