John2189 453 #1 Posted May 31, 2023 Ok the plate that bolts to the steering tower is missing along with the serial number. How can I tell what year it is? 1980,81 or 84. Were they not made in 82 and 83? the serial number of the engine says it is a 1983. So that doesn’t help much, it could be a replacement engine for the 80 or 81 or it could be a left over engine for the 84 Is there another place on the tractor that the serial number could be?

c-series don 8,708 #4 Posted May 31, 2023 I think that was asked because the earlier models had a Sunstrand transmission and the newer ones had an Eaton
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,046 #5 Posted June 1, 2023 You are correct on the years produced. Check the pto switch - 1980-81 4 wires, 1984 2 wires

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,046 #8 Posted June 1, 2023 The pto switch is in the starter circuit. Pto must be off for the starter to work.
