Pull the spark plug and see if its wet, maybe fouled .Sounds like you're getting too much fuel, flooding out. Take the bowl apart and check the float isn't stuck. I've had 4 big block Kohler engines with 4 cheap carbs and all 4 were junk. The isavetractors carb John bought for the backhoe before I got it is working fine. Ill agree. Those IST carbs are some of the same available on flabby bay and the jungle store.Their just not quite the same as original OEM carbs.

Eric what do you use fro solvent/cleaning agent in the ultra sonic cleaner. i used purple power but it seriously discolored the carb body and every time you touched it you got gray on your fingers.

I tried using a product called Incredible Pink. That worked well but left the film you speak of. The pics above are when I used gasoline. I found that to be a good solution.
Pete D 83 #60 Posted July 8, 2023 My $0.02: Purple power is strongly alkaline and should not be used on aluminum. Gas has a low flashpoint and terrible fumes. I like mineral spirits. Much higher flashpoint, very little odor, and works just about as well as gasoline.
