Greg Parnell 6 #1 Posted August 8, 2009 The 244-5 WH tractor we just got runs real good at 2/3 throttle or less but when we go to full throttle the engine increases speed a lot and runs way too fast, I think. I have zero experience with an Onan engine and would like to tap into the wealth of knowlege here for help. Should the engine increase this much from 2/3 throttle to WOT? TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted August 8, 2009 It sounds like either the governor quit working or the arm has slipped on the shaft. Look closely at the governor spring and make sure it's not caught somewhere and that both hooked ends are correctly attached to the holes in the levers. I believe the 244's only used one lever for throttle/choke so I doubt that the cable housing is pulled too far back in the clamp at the engine -- but you can check that too. :thumbs2:
Greg Parnell 6 #3 Posted August 26, 2009 Update...I guess the problem worked itself out because it runs good now. This is a good riding and grass cutting wheelhorse.
