Ian cool videos as usual....really amazeing the progress you've made on this when you back up & scan the thread from the beginings.

As far as the belt coming off, was it at the engine or the driven pullies on the trans?

Maybe a could "L" shaped metal tabs or bolts heated & bent to keep the belt from running off the side of the pulley?

Thanks Andy, Pm and email received.

Thanks Stephen, lol yeah she sure has evolved since I started the build.

The belt was coming off at the belt tensioner and occasionally the rear trans pulley when the belt decided it wanted to be even more of a pain!

Good thinking about the L shaped bit of metal, I'm hoping it won't be needed now but your idea is stashed away just in case it is needed.

Ian

great job

Thanks Brad.

After Mondays fun and games with the drive belt jumping off too many times, the time had come to get it sorted (again) so I could enjoy all of the engines power without the belt jumping off..

Part of the problem is the tensioner pulley..

TSS14816.jpg

The small lips each side work just fine if your using a standard length drive belt, but a belt that's twice the length is a bit different and bounces around a lot more..

TSS14817.jpg

I guess you can guess where I'm going with this :D

A spare pulley had some extra lip welded on.. Cutting the two rings of steel took quite a while to machine to size and shape..

Sorry about the blurred photo, my brain must of been having a bad focus moment!

TSS14818.jpg

Andy (the good chap that he is) sent me a couple of WH belt tensioner photo's to give me a few ideas.. Thank you Sir, you inspired me to come up with this idea..

Simple really, a bunch of bearings bolted above the belt with a strengthening bracket behind..

Now I know it's starting to look like I'm getting a dexion fetish, but I wanted to see if the idea worked before cutting up good steel :D

These bearings do not put any tension on the belt, they are just there to stop the belt jumping up and down so much..

TSS14819.jpg

While this was going on Pete was busy working on axe head number 2..

TSS14820.jpg

It's almost finished..

TSS14821.jpg

Soooooo..

With the drive belt sorted and Pete finished playing "mad axe man" for the day there was only one thing left to do...

Yep, go for a drive :woohoo:

It's made it this far..

TSS14822.jpg

I might of got a bit carried away taking photo's at this point..

You Da Man Ian! , Great to see you've overcome yet another 'Hurdle'. I agree , the 'Air Shot' is really cool. Just need a 3" Canon Barrel on the Hood and it will be ready for the Battlfield.

Thanks dude, lol yep a beast she is.

Hi Stephen, all that has been on the draw bar so far is an empty trailer + the weight of one person sitting in/on it.. Not much of a test really. A friend has an old Fergie plough which we were talking about hanging on the back the other day.. Could be fun :)

I'm not sure about a suspension seat, just one that's not falling apart I would be happy with.. Maybe I shouldn't drive over too many logs :laughing-rofl:

Very nice Ian! Love the shot of the front end in the air! :woohoo:

Matt :flags-texas:

Thanks Matt, yep that is a cool shot. I've now got it set as the thumbnail on the video.

Howdo Richard it is great to have "that" hurdle of the drive belt finally sorted.. I could mount the cannon on the 3 point to make it adjustable.

Very cool!

Thanks Jake.

Seat belt & harness for the "log jumper"???????????

I think a full racing seat and harness would be needed for any logs that are bigger than the little one I drove over :D

Ian,

You must be one happy guy. Congradulations

Brad

Thanks Brad, yep I'm a very happy guy.. This "everything working as it should" point has been a long time coming.

This is a calendar shot if I've ever seen one!

Hey Chris, I could be tempted to enter it as a calender photo for next years calender :)

This is a calendar shot if I've ever seen one!

I would be willing to wager it's his new desktop background.... :)

It's one of my desktop backgrounds along with a lot of other Wh photo's, cars, foxes, stunning scenery, an arm chair covered in moss and even a field of cabbages

So... What's been happening on the project since the fun and games in the mud and snow??

Well, not much really..

I made a start on the fenders by making lot's of small bit's of angle into two bigger lengths. These were the "quick tracks" that Garry and I made in a rush just before the Ardingly last year.

TSS14834.jpg

These will go here..

TSS14836.jpg

And here.. They will give the inside of the fenders something to bolt onto.

TSS14835.jpg

Pete then turned up, so after the normal couple of coffee's Pete ground down a few welds.

TSS14837.jpg

I had a bit of grinding fun as well..

TSS14847.jpg

Then it was time to try and work out "a look" for the stretched fenders..

I didn't like the look at this point...

TSS14839.jpg

What's going on ere then?

TSS14840.jpg

Thought I'd better check I could still climb on and sit down with the fender on..

TSS14841.jpg

Yep I can..

TSS14842.jpg

Who say's I drink too much coffee????

TSS14843.jpg

A view from the front.

TSS14844.jpg

We had a good think about what to do with the fender during lunch.. The fender also makes a handy table :handgestures-thumbup:

TSS14845.jpg

After lot's of this  and this :scratchead: we had the look sorted..

A gentle curve at each end and a gentle slope down from the back to the front.. That looks a lot better..

TSS14846.jpg

The next day I started measuring up for the extra steel needed to stretch the fenders, when this chap turned up!!

It's been a while since Garry last dropped in, it was good to catch up dude. :handgestures-thumbup:

TSS14851_zps3ee727df.jpg

Despite Garry being involved with this project from it's very start, he had never actually had a drive of the beast!!

I'm sure you can guess what's coming next :D

HI Matt, yeah Garry really enjoyed himself.. As he said," It was worth the wait" :)

You guys are havin way tooo much fun !!!!!!!!!!

Ed

You can never have too much fun Ed :D

So with the fun over (for a little while) I thought it was about time I got on with stretching the fenders...

Starting with a long strip of 1.6mm steel..

TSS14852_zps218d5f8b.jpg

Lot's clamping.... This is why I needed to sort the fenders out before cracking on with the dozer blade.. These long lengths of box which were bought for making the dozer blade were on the only long enough straight bit's that I have.

TSS14853_zps4aaa89f0.jpg

Taking shape.

TSS14854_zps60173f15.jpg

A quick look... Looks about right to me..

TSS14855_zps72a35043.jpg

After un-clamping.. Not bad, only the very slightest of bows in the middle..

TSS14856_zpsb9abcf1b.jpg

Yep... I'm happy with the match of the curves.. Ok, it needs a little bit of work along the rest of the outer lip, but not too much..

TSS14857_zps7deb4d05.jpg

A quick look to see how it looked on the beast.

TSS14858_zpsaf010951.jpg

Then back on the bench for the inner curve to be added..

TSS14859_zps708f90d4.jpg

Lot's of measuring, clamping and tack welding later.... Ok, I forgot to take photo's of that stage..

The bottom of the outer lip needs a little trimming..

TSS14860_zps36e44b85.jpg

TSS14861_zps7e2312b0.jpg

TSS14862_zpsd93009ff.jpg

The next morning (yesterday) quite a few hours were spent looking, measuring and :scratchead: ing trying to work out how to make the inner panel..

Eventually, the inner panel marked out for cutting..

TSS14864_zpsa305c649.jpg

On the bench it went for a bend to be added..

TSS14865_zpsb40ae431.jpg

Done.... But will it fit?

TSS14866_zps2eddec4b.jpg

Er.... No.. :handgestures-thumbdown:

TSS14867_zps028bcb01.jpg

A bit of trimming, hammering and moving bits about later it fit's much better. The join needs a little hammer work to get both sides flush but I'm happy with how it turned out.

TSS14868_zps1215ca5d.jpg

A view from the front.. The gap between panels will vanish when I add curves to the very front..

TSS14869_zps9f33d89a.jpg

Another little filler panel.

TSS14871_zps70dc71c0.jpg

A bit hard to see from this photo, it follows the lines making the new panel blend in with the old.

TSS14872_zps7cda6670.jpg

At the end of play yesterday... The stretched fender sure has changed the "look" of the beast.... Me likey :handgestures-thumbup:
