OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #2 Posted May 21, 2023 If you can screw it out soak it in carb cleaner then spray with lubricant. Maybe tap on the little press down ball. It must be stuck
hotajax 223 #3 Posted May 21, 2023 Thanks, Okie. Need to see if I can unscrew it. Some guy on the net suggested heating the zirc and melting the grease, and maybe getting the old junk to flow out of it.
pacer 3,169 #4 Posted May 21, 2023 Yeah, likely the zirc is clogged. You can usually clean them as @OutdoorEnvy sez, although if its been hit/banged it can lock the ball. When you get it out you'll most likely see the problem - damaged/hardened grease/etc. If grease is hardened, try and pick as much of it out as possible and maybe squirt in some brake cleaner or .... whatever.
Pullstart 62,814 #5 Posted May 21, 2023 I’ve had success either way. Old grease gets super hard, and heat kind of liquifies it again to be pushed out.
ri702bill 8,296 #6 Posted May 21, 2023 If they are threaded in, unscrew them , blast them from the backside with the wand of Brake-Kleen - watch out for your eyes!! Press one at a time into the grease gun fitting - give it a try (50-50 on that). If good, reinstall, if not ,replace. Seen both....
