Tire bead won't release

Recommended Posts

Stubborn bead would not release from the rim.

I figured if soaking a new malformed tire in hot water made a new tire easier to regain it's manufactured shape why not heat the rim around the beaded area to make the rubber more pliable. The heat worked its charm and the bead let go.

Dang!  I didn't think of this last August when I was trying to remove the front tires from my C-195.

Probably would have saved me the blackened fingernail I gave myself when I missed the tire iron with the 8 pound hammer.  That black spot has just now grown out of the fingernail.

I have had decent success using a spray bottle of window cleaner while using the bead breaker, That stuff loves to migrate between the bead and rim once it gets a low spot to puddle ...
