Still off roading!

Hope you all are doing great! Geez, between breaking ground on a new house and trying to keep my shop going in this 'different' world we live in, things are just a little hectic.

While the Horse 'collecting' addiction has taken a bit of a back seat, the off roading continues when I can. (dont worry, ol Hoss and 'lawn duty' 1277 continue to work like rented mules and are running great!)

We took a ride at Good Evening Ranch and offroad park last month- 28 tractors altogether! GER is a TOUGH place, with lots of huge rocks and super rugged trails. 5 of us finally found the weak link/breaking point of our beloved Horses- front spindles. Thank God for carrying spares, as I lost both by the end of the weekend. Time for 1" custom 'loader' style spindle upgrades, as even bracing does not help on trails like this. As for the rest of the machine- just plain bomb proof- zero issues, and is probably one of the least 'modified for off roading' machines out there- again- a testament to the Pond brothers!!

So, what have you all been up to???

PS-  Red Square membership renewed!!

Cool stuff Scott!  Yeah, lots of bouncing on a 3/4” rod with some shear able welds might break one or two!  :handgestures-thumbupright:

Great up here in Maine. Busy as all get out like usual. Good to see you posting again.

Looks like maybe time for some home built spindles with trailer hub upgrade.

FYI, The JD 200 Series front axle has1” spindles and will fit your WH. Some modification to the steering linkage to spindle attachment is required

Trash the JD tie rods and build a set with good 1/2" heims  joints. You'll be as near to bullet proof as you can get.

At least the JD axle is painted black from the factory. You could just tell these guys it’s from a WH 520.

Yes sir its done, but used 3/8 rod ends and tapped the original WH tie rods. 3/8 is a good 'weak link' versus busting the steering block/fan gear, and I just carry a couple spares in the ammo can. So far have only broken one.

Haha right on!

A lot of the guys keep it all WH and run a 520 swept but those arent easy to find, or cheap.
