Oh what a project I have.

Stopped into my old Wheel Horse dealer a couple of weeks ago. As I was leaving saw this setting off to the side. So I jumped out and had to check it out. It surely has been abused. I went home and kept thinking about it in the back of my mind. About 2 weeks went by and I stopped and looked it over again. I went in and asked if he would consider selling it. We came to an agreement, and he delivered it today. The dealer sold it new. It’s sat its whole life outside. No number on the plate to tell which one it is out of the 200. First WH I’ve ever seen the steering locked up. Time to get the PB Blaster flying.IMG_0909.jpeg.5decb2639073f8248b94c1b9529e8c53.jpeg

Should make the podium in the Ugly Seat contest!

It's a shame when these tractors are left outside. :(

Good on you for taking it on!  Once they are working the yard and gardens can't tell a difference.  Don't see that model too much.  Could be quite the save down the road.  Keep us updated!

LSE models always kinda bothered me. Too pretty to work, too expensive not to. Looks like the PO went with the second option for a while.

But it is good that you got it!

I went there about 4 years ago and tried to talk him into selling me a 4-wheel cart that had been rusting away for years, but nope, he really doesn't want to sell anything. You were lucky.

Nice that you were able to save that. 400 Series with the Magnum and Eaton 1100 are always worth saving. Enjoy your time working on it.

Sad... some people just got too much money. How did they get all that money being so stupid as to let a collector model like that set outside.

Thanks for saving :handgestures-thumbupright:

It bugs me that there are many that go thru life neglecting and destroying most of their assets and then want the considerable number of programs to bail them out in their retirement.  Those that took care and are not needy need not apply.  :soapbox:

Being that it is an LSE I'm a little surprised that it took 2 weeks for you to decide that you wanted it. Sad to see the ol' girl in such a bad state. Glad that you were able to rescue it.

I cannot imagine having a nice 420 LSE and just let it sit out in the elements......

Good save

sooo sad to see it in that poor condition.  those things were $8000. in 1986 if i remember correctly.  my local dealer had one.  not sure how that equates in today's dollars but, it is a lot!!!   good luck with it

Isn't that like $40,000 in today's dollars? :P

If you think I'm joking, check out the commercial grade stuff sold today!

Sad what folks do and don't value. She was all dressed up, and nowhere to go..... Worth fixing - definitely. Looks like it will be a balancing act  to get it functional and not become a money pit.

A quick story on what some folks value - and don't. My FIL worked at various GM dealerships as a mechanic before going into business for himself. He was employed by the large Cadillac dealer at this time. A fellow from the other end of the state bought a new DeVille from the showroom floor - paid most of it on the spot in cash, financed the rest. A couple of months go by and this guy stops paying. The car gets reposessed - he was a farmer and some of his goats were living in the car!!!

It amazes me how good some folks are at abusing quality very expensive lawn and garden equipment . Leaving something in the elements probably one of the worst things you could do to something . Nice save

If we knew who it went to we could form a posse & bring the PO to justice.
