The 953/1054 covers he was selling had the ribs running across the board rather than in line and they weren't the "CORRECT" ribbed rubber. Of course I can't find the "CORRECT" ribbed rubber anyplace anyway.

I purchased this do make the step treads on my 953. IMG_20230502_191525816.jpg.786f28c5d711d5f3d518c85b2ab6e7d5.jpg

It does not have a self adhesive backing. My plan is to use 3M 90 spray adhesive to hold it in place.

Have plenty to cut out a few if any one would be interested.

If you don't want them to ever come off, use windshield urethane.

Used to sell the urethane to the jet ski guys when they got tired of every other glue  not working on their side boards

A while back when I was in Harbor Freight, I noticed some "diamond plate" style rubber mats with adhesive backs, that are just about the perfect size for WH side boards. Haven't installed them yet but I will soon. Don't have a picture but will take and post if anyone wants to see them. I bought the last 2 they had - would have bought more if they'd had 'em. I'm pretty sure I'll need some extra adhesive to keep them on even with some good cleaning with acetone on the boards first, so I was wondering what would work best. I have a can of the 3M 90 spray but the urethane sounds like a good idea.

Urethane is expensive and what you don't use in the tube will be thrown away but the mats will be on until a sander or grinder takes them off.

Rubber-Cal

https://www.rubbercal.com/rubber-flooring/rubber-outdoor-flooring/corrugated-ramp-cleat-rubber-runners.html

Also available on Amazon.

This is what I use. Double-sided carpet tape works great to glue it down.

This product is identical to the footrest mats on C-Series tractors of the 1970's

Most of us try to keep sand out of the paint. :hide:

My 1991 520H had the fine rubber mats from new.  You would not believe the amount of rust under them.  I would not install anything permanently so I could remove and repair as needed.

My 1989 520 was the same rust under the mats.  I took them off and trashed them.

As a 35 year auto glass veteran, I can confirm!!!

Just buy the cheapest non primer version you can find. To increase the adhesion on the rubber, use pvc primer.

Ideal solution if you drive your tractors in bare feet, and suffer from hard skin on your heels and soles 🦶

I actually contacted Eldon of classic kitchens through ebay a few days ago, about getting another pair of the 24" length mats.

He told that he doesn't have any of those left and is not going to make anymore in the near future. He thought that someone else might be making them.

They look nice. I’ll go that direction with the information that Eldon isn’t making them anymore

Strange you should mention that particular gentleman 🤔
Although the young lady riding the Wheelhorse in the book, “From The Horses Mouth” doesn’t appear to have any concern’s being ‘barefoot’, in fact, she is ‘Bare’ everything!🙀 As is the girl riding the motorcycle in the desert in the film ‘Vanishing Point’🫣
