chorusguy 227 #1 Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) I am trying to get my c160 back up to operating level. Am replacing the steering wheel and saw where one solution was to remove dash and wheel from another tractor. I'm fortunate to have a donor and am doing this procedure. Everything on donor is loose and ready to move with the exception of the choke and throttle knobs. I assumed they would just slide off with a little pressure. Um...no. so now I have really nothing to pry against since everything is already detached. Is there some secret that would help me? The knobs wiggle on their respective shafts, but cannot get them to come off. On the other mower, they popped right off. ebinmaine 67,552 #2 Posted April 24, 2023 Double check the knobs to see if there is a tiny little pin holding it in place. Once that's out maybe a hair dryer or low set heat gun to warm the knob. Some of my C series have the pin. Others don't. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

These rascals were really never intended for remove/replace so when putting them back on (the “T” type on the 400/500s have the same affliction) I put some hot glue in there to firm it up but not make it “epoxy” permanent. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I use an adjustable (crescent) wrench on the lever as small as can be adjusted (without being tight) and then tap tap tap with a hammer. They generally come right off.
