kpinnc 12,065 #1 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Got this idea from Don (Lee1977), and I pretty much copied his work. I see all these heavy hitches, so I waited to build one until I found the one I liked best. Don's hitch has two recievers so he can use the truck bed lift and still pull a trailer. His tractor is in the first pic. My hitch wasn't dry enough to handle yet, so I'll mount it tomorrow. Then I'll mount the lift. Mine is the second pic. I still have to make the brace up front for the tranny mount plate. But the hitch is mounted up now.
kpinnc 12,065 #5 Posted April 24, 2023 Added the new adapter for the bed crane. Drilled the stupid holes 3/8 instead of 1/2, but I'll open them up tomorrow when the paint is dry. Mounted the crane just to see how it'll fit. No more picking heavy crap up and putting in the trailer! And, it is easily removed with a single hitch pin. 1
ineedanother 1,369 #7 Posted May 29, 2023 I sold my welder last year so this will be a bit of a challenge but I got this hitch on a a while back which could be a good start to one of these. I have a generator and some other stuff to move so I picked this up on sale today from HF for less than $100.

ranger 1,750 #9 Posted May 31, 2023 👍👍👍👍👍👍 How about something along the lines of a forked bracket fitted into the lower receiver, holding a pair of heavy duty casters, positioned to just clear the ground when crane unloaded? This would stabilise the tractor. When using the crane, also taking a bit of strain off the rear axles. No Wheelies when manoeuvring!
Lee1977 6,663 #10 Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) Here my other hitch It's removable. Only fits the 312-8. The 312 hitch is braced to the top of the transmission. My others are all braced to the hitch at the back of the transmission. Edited June 1, 2023 by Lee1977 3
kpinnc 12,065 #11 Posted June 7, 2023 Speaking of hitches... My front mower hitch was built to have two purposes: one to carry the front mount deck, and secondary a receiver for a front trailer hitch. I've seen several members talk about moving trailers with one of these, but I had no idea. This might be the smartest thing I ever built! It's like an aircraft tug now. So much easier to maneuver a trailer around! And another shameless plug for LED headlights for those who still don't like them. Drops my digital voltmeter by .2 volts... Tractor is in the same position, not even facing me. 1
OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #12 Posted June 7, 2023 @kpinnc that is the most robust front hitch I’ve seen! Well done! The double mounting to front and at the attachamatic bar is a great idea. It looks seriously tough.

I tend to go overboard on my stuff. I worried that shoving the brush cutter in places I couldn't really see might overstress the front hitch alone. It can of course pivot/ bounce up, but maybe this hitch will tolerate it.
