Bill D 1,915 #1 Posted April 23, 2023 I have a chance to pickup a cheap deck for parts. The deck is total trash other than the spindle housings, which are in surprising good shape. The spindle shafts on this deck are 3/4" keyed shafts. Are the housings the same as the ones used with the later metric spindle shafts? Just wanted to confirm before I buy it as most of my decks have metric shafts. Thanks, Bill
76c12091520h 3,608 #2 Posted April 23, 2023 They are not. The housings for the keyed shafts are # 106063; later "metric" decks use # 114568. Close, but different.
Lee1977 6,652 #3 Posted April 23, 2023 They will work I have used them for metric spindles. Bearing OD on both are 40mm I don't know what is different other then the part number of the housings.. Back when I could get a new spindle with housing, spindle, pulley, both nuts and a blade for $67 I bought two sets of 3/4 keyed. They have all been rebuilt with metric bearings and spindles. The sleeve between bearings also has to be changed for the 17 mm spindles.
peter lena 8,592 #4 Posted April 23, 2023 @Bill D agree with @Lee1977 on the bearing , would take advantage of the opportunity , to re grease those bearings . side shield removal , small putty knife , or similar very thin flat , carefully pops those seals off , wipe out original , grease , lucas green or lucas marine grease , has very high temp and stress rating . also do the pto mule drive bearings . imagine no bearing whine , or noise . you are right there in rebuild stage . many hours , and zero failure or problem , pete
