ri702bill 8,316 #3 Posted April 16, 2023 I went to the spring Automotive Swap meet at Stafford Springs Speedway in CT. with my Son-in-Law, maybe 15 years ago. There was a guy selling unopened, unbuilt model car kits from the 60's, 70's and 80's - the same ones I bought new for $5 to $7 dollars - he is FIRM at $125 each - think not... Boxes were all sun faded - Ya think the rubber tires and decals are toast???? He would NOT open them up - he kept saying "NIB","NIB"--- it's only new in box once... Beap52 811 #4 Posted April 16, 2023 Pretty amazing models! Some folks are really talented. We visited some friends and they drove us north of Des Moines about 1 1/2 hours to Gladbrook, Iowa. There is a fellow in this small town who makes amazing structures out of match sticks. The United States Capital building was made using 478,000 match sticks, 10 gallons of carpenters glue and more than 2,000 hours of labor. All of the data used to draw plans to construct this building was gathered from the internet. The model is 12 feet long and 5.5 feet tall. We worked out of his basement. His work in displayed in a museum/art gallery in Gladbrook. If I remember, we paid five dollars entrance fee. I believe he has been hired by Ripley's Believe It or Not for some contract work.
