ilovemy1974b80 28 #1 Posted April 12, 2023 I would like to add a hydraulic pump and spool these are the ones I was looking at would they work together
RED-Z06 2,221 #2 Posted April 12, 2023 Whats the pump flow rate, what's the goal as far as the implement...
kpinnc 12,017 #3 Posted April 12, 2023 Also another thing to think about: if you're thinking of using on a Wheel Horse, be sure the pump is rated for side loads. Most pumps these days are designed to run direct drive with a lovejoy connector, and don't have bearing support on the main shaft. They will wear and fail quickly if they aren't made to stand up to belt drive. 2
ilovemy1974b80 28 #4 Posted April 12, 2023 Ok the pump is a 13 gpm do you have any recommendations for a pump that would run a loader and a 3pt
Pullstart 62,843 #5 Posted April 12, 2023 Do you plan to build the loader and three point? If so, it would be a great idea to research what others have used, how, why, etc. GPM is great. Pressure is great. Cylinder sizes you choose may vary in what needs to be delivered, etc. The bigger the cylinder in diameter, the more lifting power they typically have but require more flow.
RED-Z06 2,221 #6 Posted April 12, 2023 A deere 4X5 series ran a loader, the hydraulic pump was rated at 4.6gpm @ 1100psi.
ilovemy1974b80 28 #7 Posted April 12, 2023 Yeah I’m wanting to build a loader and 3pt
ilovemy1974b80 28 #8 Posted April 12, 2023 I found a power king that I want to buy that already has some hydraulics so I might turn that into a loader tractor instead
Pullstart 62,843 #9 Posted April 12, 2023 As much as I love my loader tractors, that’s not a terrible idea.
oliver2-44 9,743 #10 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) If you decide to build a loader for a Power King, I have a set of plans that supposedly duplicate the PK factory loader. An Auto transmission would sure be nice on a loader tractor. @squonk has a PK with a loader on it. Edited April 12, 2023 by oliver2-44
RED-Z06 2,221 #11 Posted April 12, 2023 Dont overlook steering. Adding 750lbs to the steering tires can make it difficult with manual steering
ilovemy1974b80 28 #12 Posted April 12, 2023 I might look into power steering at some point but i don’t know yet
ilovemy1974b80 28 #13 Posted April 12, 2023 This is what I have right now and as long as I’m moving I can kinda steer
ilovemy1974b80 28 #14 Posted April 13, 2023 Well the power king is pretty much out of the question it’s a little out of my budget so I might go back to the wheel horse idea
wallfish 16,995 #15 Posted April 13, 2023 Like everything else, pumps are getting expensive. This was probably about $120 when I built the hoe but $250 now. https://www.northerntool.com/products/concentric-high-pressure-hydraulic-gear-pump-0-517-cu-in-model-g1232c5a300n00-10567 Can you post some pics of that setup from behind the bucket? Money might be better spent on a hydro tractor to put it on A 2 stage pump, like for a log splitter, will pump fast on the first stage until the load is on then 2nd stage has the power so probably not a good idea because you won't have much control when it's moving to fast without a load. I guess you could restrict the flow to slow that down

I am getting ready to look for a pump for my Johnson 10 and thought it may help others to know as well. Thanks! Randy
