JRess 12 #1 Posted April 10, 2023 I have a 12hp Koehler 301. The spark plug cable boot is worn. I have a new cable. How do I replace into the ignition coil? Since I am not too mechanical inclined don’t want to break anything. Thanks all. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
WHX?? 48,815 #2 Posted April 10, 2023 Just pull the old one straight out. There should be a metal looking ferrule on the end of the old one and the replacement should have one like it on it. I was just getting ready to complain about the price of a single wire and was looking at some for marine engines as a possible way to buy 6 at a time. I got one from him at the BS and they are nice but me thinks Ole Sqounky bent me... @Achto and I since buy plug wire sets at Fleet Farm. Supposed to be for a Continental Dan?? Enough wire and ends to make a few. I hit you over the head with a shovel. The " universal tractor wire sets come with the boots and terminals on one end. You cut to length and put the ends on the other. Old # was Belden 700172. Sold a bunch of them. The problem with the kit is the plug terminals and boots are straight not a 90 deg elbow. That's why I buy everything separate so they have the right end. I'll have to check out Tractor supply. Looks like they sell a kit with the right boots.. squonk 41,079 #16 Posted June 2, 2023 I saw those when I googled fleet farm. What material are the plug boots made from? I'd like to see an up close picture of them.
