Was it delivered in whole? Looks great. If you contracted for a clear ridge, I'd insist on it. Until you get some lights, you need a little sunshine. Tell the wife that she will get whatever space is left after you return from the big show this year. :hide:

Jim - nice!! Will it be secured to the ground, or do you use parts tractors inside to make it wind and storm proof???

Add a couple of skylights??

@WHX?? very nice unit , and great pricing compared to my area , would consider using  1" water hose to contain / protect that wiring , use a light  cord as a runner , then a shop vac to pull the wire drag lead to the end , makes a wire pull easy , pete

Nice shack Jim!! :handgestures-thumbupright:

I don't think that I would worry too much about the clear ridge cap. If you're going into it for somethin' there is a real good chance that you will have the door open any way.

Could always bury a line out to it for a light & an outlet or 2.

That will go over real well. Jim would have to walk home and then find a cot in that shed when he finally made it back!

Had this delivered yesterday. Local Amish built 24x12. Construction seems to be adequate & price ...69 frankies delivered... was reasonable. I priced out materials @ 6500.

Floor is all treated and sets on massive full length 6x6 skids.

All steel siding, trim & roof. The siding is the new fangled steel with the texture.

Was supposed to have clear ridge cap for lighting but got boned on that. On the fence if I should make them change it.

Will be running a wire out to it for a couple of lights & outlets anyway.

The idea is for SWMBO to keep her bin collection out ther so more room in the big warehouse for tractors... :greetings-clappingyellow:

When I mentioned some outlets for keeping tractor batteries charged I didn't get the look...

Will the clear ridge cap provide enough light to actually see anything? If you didn't pay any extra for the clear ridge and it doesn't leak, I'd be apt to leave it alone especially if you had plans for lights anyways.

Nice unit!

A garden hose wouldn't protect the wire very well, especially if it were to be dug into accidentally.. Plus I don't know of any fittings to go from a hose to PVC

Proper way to do it would be lay PVC in a trench and suck a pull string through with a shop vac, then pull the wire.. Or just fish tape it depending on the length of the run.

Is the clear ridge a plastic of sorts?  They probably don’t have near the warranty on plastic vs. steel.  :text-+1:to leave it alone.

Nice shack Uncle Jim!

Nice dog house!

Use rigid PVC conduit if you are going to bury a wire. It can go aerial if it's close enough but u/g is better.

Shouldn't be too difficult to cut in a couple/few small windows but a light switch should do the same thing.

Thanks guys ... the ridge light was a no charge option so I didn't pay for it. I think I'm gonna leave it. Might p off the Amish that would be worse than p off the Pope today.

I don't know how they build them so cheap. At 6500 in materials & 250 cut for the delivery guy. That leaves little for them to buy beer with. Cash is king with them too.

The big warehouse is just 30 ft away with a outlet right there I can tie into. Will direct bury some 12- 2 uf cable.

:twocents-02cents: Put it in a 1 inch gray conduit and drop a 1/2 inch spare in the hole too. 10 years from now the robot turning your wrenches may need more power and a hardwired internet connection.

Don't tell HER I said anything, but it's not a bad idea to move the loud compressor into the she shed :hide:

What's with you guys putting under ground wire in conduit.

 Code?

Heck with the codes they didn’t save us no buffalo 🐃. Never do that around here. Just direct burial.

Correct type of wire of course but even in conduit you can't use cheaper regular romex can you?

Heck with the robots John ... I'll be pushing daisies. Back when I built my other outbuildings I ran phone cable to them all... then came 🛜... silly me.

She shed way too far from the shop and no 220. Sides compressor is music to my ears when I remember the air it makes.

Thing about this shed is a couple of cans of silly foam might make it mouse proof.

Nice unit!

Thanks buddy... the one we looked at had the ridge sky and was amazing how much lite it let in. The roof panels are cut back to expose more clear plastic. Gonna leave as is but will :ranting: at the seller just cause. We think what happened is our unit wasn't labeled with our name and the guy not driving the horse and buggy loaded the wrong one.

20230408_141336.jpg

Driver had I real nice tilt bed tandem and dropped it right where it had to go. It was three inches off but he got out a high lift jack and was spot on.

For a joke I told him to get in it and take a pee to see how level it was. Spirit level says want too bad.

Ever see what happens when a stone pushes up and cuts through direct burial wire? It's quite impressive if the wires touch. Really impressive when its a 3 phase feeder in commercial applications.
