953 nut 55,198 #2 Posted April 9, 2023 To change the oil on an Eaton 1100 the drain plug is located on the bottom near the trailer hitch. A 1/4" Allen Wrench is used to remove it. The oil filter should also be replaced with a Wix 51410 or NAPA 1410. Use 10 W 30 motor oil to replace the old oil. It will require a little more than four quarts of oil and it needs to be added slowly through the dip stick tube. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
cleat 5,934 #3 Posted April 9, 2023 I actually just changed the transmission oil in my 520HC after replacing the O rings on the hoses and control valve. 953Nut is absolutely correct. If you add your fluid after pulling the old filter but before installing the new one then that leaves a tube from the filter housing to the transmission open. That will work as an air vent. You can then use a snug fitting funnel in the transmission vent tube and the oil will flow in fairly well and should not burp. I put in 4L and that brought it up close to the full mark on the dipstick after running the tractor ahead and back and cycling the hydraulics up and down a few times. I had the hydraulic hoses and valve apart so they were also drained. You may need slightly less oil with just an oil change. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

c-series don 8,690 #6 Posted April 9, 2023 @cleat @Ed Kennell As Ed said that is some great info, after all the oil changes I’ve done on these transmissions I never thought about leaving the filter off !! I have however removed/loosened one of the bolts that hold the lift cable tube in place and that definitely helps. It’s a bit of a pain in the neck and even though I clean around it I’m worried about dirt getting in there. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Should I drain while hot ? Yes raise the front to drain as much oil as possible. You will not get it all out unless all the lift hoses are removed and the lift cylinder is cycled.
