Streetrodchev 800 #1 Posted April 3, 2023 I’m new to Wheel Horse, from SE WI. I just acquired a 1960 Suburban 550 (running and driving). Looking to learn more about these and see what accessories and attachments were available. 3

If so, i see them at a few shows a year and been to their plow day (I was on a green tractor). 1 1

I have a lot to learn. I do have the mower deck for it, but wouldn’t mind finding either of the front mowers (reel or sickle) or the moldboard plow. My other tractors are a few Deere, Panzers, and an Economy.

WHX?? 48,823 #12 Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) Jeff. If you'd ever show up at plow day @Pullstart you would have met him. You quit choking the chickens and get to Portage Jeff be there. I'll overlook the color of his tractor... a real two bottom plow beast and a few of us got seat time on it. Note the weights on the land side! Back to the tractor at hand. Looks like Dan has got you a manual for it. Only thing i see missing is the dash plate. There's a wanted section in classifieds here you could post an add for attachments. Keep an eye on CL ads, particularly in the PA, IN and IL areas for them. @Lane Ranger might know some guys too. Not a huge fan of FB but things do pop up there. Looks like you have the 5010 three piece tranny. @stevasaurus is a pro on those and we can get you a repair manual. Edited April 4, 2023 by WHX?? 1

stevasaurus 22,759 #16 Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) I was there last year to see that 2 bottom plow working. It was amazing to watch...so effortless and smooth. 1st quick tip for that #5010 transmission. Drain and change the oil. Use one of the bottom side bolts toward the rear of the trans to drain the oil. You may have to poke a small screwdriver into the hole to move any sludge to get it to drain properly. If real bad, drop trans, open, clean out and put back together. Refill with 90 wt gear oil until it starts to come out that side plug on the back left. Approx 1 1/2 qts. but less then 2 qts. The friend I got this from, likely talked to you about this trans, he cleaned the rust out and replaced the bearings in it.

evanloock 221 #25 Posted April 5, 2023 Very nice original 550. Not only has the Tillotson carb, but the shield over it as well. Where is the starter solenoid located on it? Can you take a pic? 1 1
