wallfish 16,994 #1 Posted March 30, 2023 So this started as a different project but as happens often it turned into something else. It will be made from as many WH parts as possible so finding the right parts for a purpose kinda slows things a little. It's still in the building stages but there's enough there to roll and mock up for pics to give an idea what going on. It's getting tougher and tougher to come up with something new that hasn't already been done. Same torque converter drive as the other bike but this one will be chain driven instead of a belt. Split suburban axles for the front suspension with suburban lift handles for rear swing arm suspension, so it should ride a bit smoother than the rigid bike does. Hoping to have done for a local show or 2 before the big show to work out any kinks 10 11

Ed Kennell 38,160 #5 Posted March 30, 2023 Even us old wobbly guys may be able to keep a 3 wheeler upright. Watcha ya think Waldo, ya up for a spin around the infield? 3 1
953 nut 55,205 #6 Posted March 30, 2023 John, will there be a cane holder for those of us who are a bit walking challenged?
wallfish 16,994 #7 Posted March 30, 2023 Figured you old geezers would need a stable ride so.... Here ya go! I'd imagine a lot more people would actually take this one for a lap or lap or 2 compared to the 2 wheeler. Dick, I'll hold you cane to make sure you come back! 1 1

Once that one gets pulled out, I’ll toss the ride the can am in! It seems like you’ve mentioned this front suspension more than once in the past. I’m liking the idea come to reality!

Tractorhead 9,064 #18 Posted April 3, 2023 Pretty cool idea and great realized. You thinking about Kinks huh? In the past we tuned our Motocycles, we was so concentrated on the power on the Engines, that we forgot and about the Brakes.... but who needs brakes? Absolute overestimated the later you brake, the longer you be fast. i love it 😎

Wild Bill 633 845 #20 Posted April 3, 2023 May I ask who performed the engineering calculations on the swing arm?
WHNJ701 4,165 #21 Posted April 3, 2023 Wow this is cool, great idea for a custom tractor. Nice to see a real custom build up rather than someone just welding old wrenches onto a garden tractor.

I designed the entire thing just welding WH parts together and some bearings. This is all backyard hammer mechanic build as I do not have any formal engineering, welding or any other advanced mechanical education. Just reading and experience. Are you asking about the offset for the chain drive between the sprockets? The fulcrum point for the swing arm is the same as the drive sprocket. It could swing 360 deg around the drive sprocket and never change the distance between the 2 sprockets. Edited April 3, 2023 by wallfish 4
wallfish 16,994 #24 Posted April 8, 2023 Blew off the honey do list and some other stuff to spend a good part of the day working on this. Added some bracing all around the inside of the tower to beef it up some and connected the tower to the other steering tower. Working some on a tank mount and a location Worked a little on a dash Made / modified a chain guard and a rear fender out of a seat pan. Looked better in my head so not sure yet if these will stay, get modified or get something else. IDK. The fender looks to boxie looking but it does look WH tractorie. Here's the fender reversed 2
Ed Kennell 38,160 #25 Posted April 8, 2023 Oh Man, I'm luvin that fender...it's a keeper. I like the factory position. I'll need a couple foot rest and i'm ready to ride
