Sparky-(Admin) 21,318 #1 Posted March 19, 2023 …so I brought some reading material with me while I’m in Guam to satisfy my tractor addiction. I’ll be hitting the Guam Home Depot Monday or Tuesday, I’ll see what they have for tractors . Surprised to see the Kmart is still here and equally surprised that there IS NOT a Wal-Mart on the island! Or a Dollar General !! On my second flight from Chicago to Hawaii there was a veteran of Iwo Jima sitting behind me! Real nice guy (97 years old), I did chat with him for a couple minutes. He was hard of hearing and planes are kinda loud so we didn’t chat much. His son was taking him to Hawaii, I assume to visit Pearl Harbor. 12
Lee1977 6,661 #2 Posted March 19, 2023 What size plane did you fly in on. I was there in1968 for about 45 minuets while they refueled the plane. Our government had us flying with Braniff Airways 707 with 3 rows of seats each side front to back. They took us to the end of the runway lock the brakes revved up the engines the drop the brakes. When we left the other end of the runway the plane dropped, there is about hundred yards of swamp 100 or so feet down then a larger drop to the ocean. I already knew about it so i was surprised.. 1

wh500special 2,184 #8 Posted March 20, 2023 How’s the humidity? We designed a parachute drying machine a few years ago and it was intended for Guam where the humidity is apparently brutal. Steve

We had to unload a tractor trailer today in the heat. Not a 53 footer, but close to it. We all sweat right thru our clothes in minutes. 2
