Wheel horse weights.

Recommended Posts

Huntemcd

I picked up a set of wheel weights last night that look exactly like wheel horse ones. They have the lines all the way around them but they only have 2 bolt holes and a valve stem notch on them. Are they actual wheel horse? They look identical to all the others I’ve been able to find pics of. Thanks.
I can’t upload pics.

Sounds like D series weights.

And WH did not make the weights. I have seen them on Cub Cadets and AMF as well. I got a set once from a guy who bought a CC in the early 70's. Brand new right from the dealer and the weights came with the tractor. They were painted white.

CC also had these weights. I got a set from an old IH dealer.

Yup - about a buck a pound. That is what I pay for used flat barbell cast iron weights at a local used gym equipment store. Made 2 sets of front weights so far. Genuine WH weights MAY be worth more, but only to the right buyer....

Right I was gonna say I’ve heard a dollar a pound all the time but that isn’t the case anymore. Any weights are expensive. For big tractors, suitcase weights, and garden tractors are all way over a dollar a pound.

Yea wheel weights have gotten stupid   I got lucky when I got mine for the 416 but I was patient.  Although I still paid up for what I have I think.

:text-yeahthat:But only if the Benjamin's are burning a hole in their pocket. 25 pound barbell weights weigh the same as 25 pound Gennie WH weights..... did I mention they work the same, too.............

I've sold probably 4 sets of rear weights. Never failed to get at least $250 for a pair. If guys are willing to pay $400 for a little shower cap muffler, they will pay for the weights too.

There’s just something about oem. I like making attachments but some things I’d rather just buy. I run jd weights on my horses.

I seen those an that’s way out of range lol. But anymore a dollar a pound isn’t a rule of thumb. Any oem weights are getting harder to find.

BUT... a pound of feathers is as good as a pound of cast iron - when it comes to plowing.  The point is about functionality, not originality. The "original" setup for cutting grass sucked at plowing. I. for one, am a realist on a budget, not a gotta-have purist...........

Understandable. We all have our own taste. But I look at these things as they aren’t being made anymore. Get harder to find every year. More valuable. The price of horses around me has gone up just for junk ones.

Yea that’s what I bought for my 416 rear weights.  Those are always around at least in my area.  Red paint fixes them right up lol
