The lift push point on the plow frame should be lowered to increase the lift leverage. yes I used one of these plows for my Lawn Ranger I had and I have to say it was not a very good attachment. The weak point is the way the lift bar is made with flat steel. My dad was a blacksmith and I had him mske me a heavier lift bar for my Lawn Ranger plow and I still thought it was not adequate support. I think you can make it fit on your Commando 8 but if you want to use for work a short frame snow/dozer blade would be a better bet. picture is of my old 1967 Lawn Ranger just before I sold it. Wheel Horse sold a lot of the Lawn Rangers and I read where Cecil Pond said it was one of his favorites. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I too would opt for a 42" short frame setup that mounts to a bracket on the Unidrive, Comes with blade trip springs and has a good lift design - use either a chain or the solid bar if you want downforce... But yes Ed when you hit something in front of the blade you knew you hit it as it had no flex like the spring aided plows! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Handy Don 12,177 #7 Posted March 15, 2023 Important to note, as well, that the LR frame is closer to the ground than the Commando due to the smaller wheels. This will somewhat change the angle of attack for the blade and affect the geometry of the lift mechanism as well. I have that plow on my LR and agree that it isn’t the strongest, or most convenient, and one has to be careful without release springs, but it can do a lot. I’ve scraped a gravel drive level handily. I also agree that for a Commando, moving up to the 42” on a short frame that was designed for that machine is an all-around better option. 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
