daveoman1966 3,752 #2 Posted March 14, 2023 You gotta know that this tractor is way over 50 years old. It appears to be a slow leak at that engagement lever... You can tear it all apart and replace that seal, but if the tractor is working ok, I'd leave well enough alone. Just check the fluid level when starting the tractor.... but DO NOT overfill. Put a piece of cardboard under it after use, to see how much 'seepage' is present. Know this too:... the gearbox fluid is NOT under pressure... it is just a 'reservoir' for the Sundstrand Hydrogear so it not like the fluid will start squirting out or anything. 6 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Pullstart 62,905 #3 Posted March 14, 2023 Most likely there is a leak on the motion control lever/shaft. It is fixable with the transmission in the tractor with the right tools, I do believe. It is however easier to split it. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Unless you are really bothered by the mess no need to do anything but check the fluid every time you use it. Keep an eye on the fluid levels. If the seal gives up, you will know. It's a good time to gather the new seals and go over the procedure.
