Snow blower

Hi, I’m kicking around the idea of putting a snow blower on my C-165   What blower will fit? And what would I need to mount it to be sure it has everything to mount it? What price range do they go for?

Assuming your c-165 has the original single cylinder Kohler engine you should have plenty of power to run even the larger of the snow blowers.

 

 

I only have one and I have not used it yet so I'll defer the information to other members here.

I seem to see a consensus that most people prefer the tall chute whether it's a single stage or two stage.  .. but that's mostly for control and distance.

Not sure what part of Ohio you are in I'm 30 miles west of Cleveland not in the snow belt but occasionally get a good 6 to 8 inches. I have a single stage on a C141 and it throws snow quite far with no problem. I have another tractor with a blade for the wet stuff we get from time to time.   I paid 100 for my blower that was in good shape that was Seven years ago or so I see they are going for about 150 now around here.

It just hooks up to the front hitch and then there's a lift arm and flag that connects to the lift arm rock shaft. There are several models that will fit and are basically the same. If you find a tall chute there will be a part that connects to the mid hitch. It supports the chute direction rotator rod.

Look at several manuals. You'll find that you aren't limited to that exact model #.

If you find one post it here and we can tell you if it's go or no go.

The parts list shows what is required and there are a few loose pieces for the lift when they are removed that often get forgotten and lost.

 

These will fit your tractor. That is what is so great about Wheel Horse.

Front quick hitch introduced in 1973. Snowthrower rear frame has a 5/8" diameter round bar.

1974 model 6-6213 - (First model to include 8-0221 extensions without the front straight return - just a flat plate)

1975 model 6-6214 - (First model to include 8-0221 [103552 replaced by 93-1617 and 93-1617-01] side extensions with the front straight return. First model to have a cable spool on chute rotating crank) Chute crank support decal 104461.

1976 model 6-6215 ------ Chute crank support decal 104461. This one -

1976 model 66-42ST01 - Chute crank support decal 104461. and this one are likely identical. The model number format changed.

1977 model 76-42ST01 - Chute crank support decal 104461. This one

1978 model 86-42ST01 - Chute crank support decal 104461. and this one

1979 model 96-42ST01 - Chute crank support decal 104461. and this one may be all the same. They started using a different model number for each model year.

Follow the model numbers. The snowthrowers for tractors with vertical engine crankshafts can look the same to the untrained eye but not work.

All in the above list will fit and slight improvements are listed.
