IF it's an RJ, and if the tractor has the large pulley system like the one in the video above, it's either a RJ-25 or 35. If it has a geared transmission with a shifter, it's likely a RJ-58 or 59. But there were also Suburban tractors built in 1960 and 1961 than look very similar. You're just gonna have to get some pics so we can identify...
ericforster 69 #27 Posted March 14, 2023 The gentalman is protective of his collection. He's a bit older and told me ddiferent things so far. He said ite a rj57 year 1957 but its a gear drive and not a varidrive. That means its not the 57 rj35. Possibly a 58 rj58 or 59 rj59. I dont know if I can get pictures before spring. Let me first say that I mean no offense to the gentleman you have been talking to. I have no idea who he is or how familiar he is with these machines. That being said, nearly every time I have ever went to look at a tractor, the owner thought it was "the first" model ever made and rare. Often times it was a mid-70s tractor that had sat in the rain for decades. One owner told me he had a "short frame" WH, and when I finally saw it- was a vertical shaft mower. If I had a dollar for every time I'd been lectured by someone over how much thier old tractor was worth, I'd be able to afford many more than I currently have. If I were you, I'd maintain contact with him, but make no monetary promises before identifying the tractor in question. Good luck regardless. I hope it ends up being well worth the secrecy!

He has 2 four car garages packed with parts and machines, a car and about six or seven tractors sitting outside. He is in his late 70s and has been collecting repairing and building his whole life. He is a very interesting person. Th machine in question is in the back of his 4 car garage. His garages look like something from american pickers. I cant get close to the machine as other machines are blocking. I can see the machine is in good shape and I did have a clear veiw of whats there. The other garage is a 2 car wide but it is 2 car deep. He has 50 + machines, trailers, and attachments like snow blowers and rototillers. He has had some health issues and doesnt really seam to want to sell unless he has to. It is a comlicated situation but he did give me an allis chalmers 310 today. 3
