ericforster 69 #1 Posted March 11, 2023 I talked to a guy today that has a couple nice machine he may want to sell. I apologize that I dont have pictures. One in particular caught my eye. There was this tiny beautiful machine in the back. I asked him and he said he may sell it. He told me it was a J70. I couldnt find that model. What I found was that it is identical to the RJ57. He removed the original clinton motor and replaced it with a briggs. He said that he still had the original. The tractor looks to be in good shape. What would something like this be worth? Blasterdad 2,692 #2 Posted March 11, 2023 According to the model list, there's no such thing as a J70 or RJ57...

clueless 3,002 #4 Posted March 11, 2023 Since the model numbers the guy gave you don't match any wheel horse and you don't have any pictures to show us, not sure how any of use could give you a value. Get some pictures then go from there.
953 nut 55,280 #5 Posted March 12, 2023 It could be a 1957 RJ-35, value will depend on condition and how much you want it. The one in the foreground is a 1957 RJ-35 with a 1956 belt guard, and belongs to @turnnleft. 1
wallfish 17,003 #6 Posted March 12, 2023 To the untrained eye that era little tractors may all appear to look the same at first. But I've easily tricked my wife by saying they were the same exact tractor that was out in the backyard when in reality it's a new arrival. Completely different tractor and different model and I've done this multiple times. She's been looking at them since 2008 too! I just spray enough BS on her so she doesn't walk around and count them! LoL. Without pics it could be anything from a holy grail RJ-25, all the way up to a 61 suburban. Before 1958 they are considered Ponds. Once the RJ-58 hit the market then Wheel Horse. I assume you may be comparing it to a 1957 RJ-35 which would definitely be a really nice find. There's quite a swing in value. $100-$300 for a butchered suburban up to $1200 + for a "normal condition" Pond then above that for perfect/complete one or an ORIGINAL RJ-25. Then, some early Ponds had a cable steer system too which can change the value as well. Not many of those around. Tricking the wife so not to hear complaining about more tractors ---- that's PRICELESS so get as many as possible! LoL Detailed pics from different angles will reveal what it is and the condition of it. It's all in the details to help determine a ball park value 2

My wife would never pass up an opportunity to let me have it over tractors. There's NO WAY she's going to concede something that easy! (She's not so difficult about it any more since there isn't 20 + around the property anymore. She even believes one of them is hers! LoL) 1

There's NO WAY she's going to concede something that easy! My wife went with me to the PA show back in 2007. I was floored and amazed. She quietly endured the heat, dust, and aromas of sweaty old farts and gasoline/ oil burning engines for two days ... Then she quietly planned a trip for us to the Gulf coast. There was NO options on my part. She said if I could go to Pennsylvania to look at a bunch of tractors, then I could endure a vacation with her. I couldn't argue, protest, grumble, or even frown. Doing so awakened the BEAST! She said if I didn't like it, I could go snuggle up with a tractor in the barn. Yes dear ... Thank you for saving me from a miserable week of grease, sweat, blood, and red paint. Edited March 13, 2023 by kpinnc 1

They have a very-drive pulley system. The further forward you push the motion control, the bigger the CVT style drive pulley gets.
