Pullstart 62,846 #51 Posted May 23, 2023 Steps closer. Roof mostly patched in, door in, time to side and ventilate it.
Pullstart 62,846 #52 Posted May 23, 2023 A little 28” high siding to prevent heads getting nabbed by critters if they scale the fence, and if they stick ‘em through the chain link…
Pullstart 62,846 #53 Posted May 23, 2023 And fully boxed in. I made sure to drive the steel down into the ground a ways to prevent burrowing.
Pullstart 62,846 #54 Posted May 23, 2023 A little patch work, a little steel up top, them birds will have a screen porch!
Pullstart 62,846 #55 Posted May 24, 2023 I’m glad to have set the live trap outside the new porch last night. This was inside the 6’ fence, and vicious! Unfortunately he got a splitting headache mid-morning. 1

Stormin 9,981 #57 Posted May 24, 2023 How many geese are thinking of keeping in that pen? You do realise that geese produce piles and piles of s**t.

Up to 2 may be kept through the winter, if we have a male and female to mate and incubate eggs. Otherwise, it’ll be a seasonal thing for the geese. The rest will end up in the smoker

With the expansion to the fence run, I had a hard time deciding where to place the trap. Inside the fence, outside the fence, front or back, etc. they could come from any angle. In this instance, a I believe I’ll begin placing the trap every night, right in the same spot. The meat birds in the plastic greenhouse are protected by an electric fence on the soft sides. It has proven to be worth having as well!

Pullstart 62,846 #63 Posted August 7, 2023 Cousin Eddies are pretty big these days! They are so silly, chewing on everything! They are noisy and a ton of fun to watch!
Pullstart 62,846 #64 Posted August 7, 2023 12 days we have, until we process our birds. I haven’t sexed these geese yet, to see if any will survive the cut. Or pluck, that is. This is a 23-1/2” plucker that *should* fit the geese as well as chickens!
