Starting issues

I have a 1995 314/8. After it sits without being started for a month or more it is hard to start. I replaced the fuel line and valve along with the fuel pump. also added a fuel filter. All my connections are tight. I am thinking the gas is draining from the carb back down the fuel line. Will shutting off the valve at the tank when letting tractor sit awhile help? I was thinking of adding a marine primer bulb to remedy the hard starts? Has anybody experienced this happening to there tractor?

I've used a marine primer bulb for years... works like a charm...

Thanks for the pic and info. How many times do you pump the bulb to start up?

Couple quick pumps do the trick...

@peter lena also uses some check valves that keep the gas in the line... perhaps he can post some info and a pic or two...

@rjhutson   note 4 th picture down  , showing check valve just under carb , vertically from fuel pump , fuel being held by valve , have this set up on 3 horses , 5/16 . aluminum check valve on line , you are looking at held fuel stage . arrow on valve facing up to carb . works consistently , pete

@rjhutson  evil energy fuel check valve 5/16" , ebay , like clear fuel line with the dark green squeeze clamps . tiny smear of dielectric grease , on valve nipple , makes for snug hose make up . then add green clamp . no leaks , works good , pete

I don't know if that's a recent picture, but the fitting is coming out of the primer bulb.  You may want to put a different clamp on it before you have a fire.

I just had the same issue last fall, it sat for nearly 3 months then just about a squeeze and a half is all it took to fire right up
