Achto 27,609 #1 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) The 953 that I'm working on has a Donaldson oil bath air cleaner. When it came to me the packing was gone from it. I packed it with coarse stainless scrub pads & inserted a screen over the top of them to hopefully ensure that no pieces of the scrub pads could get sucked into the carb. Is this a good idea or not??? If not, does anyone have a source for the correct packing? Out of my realm here. Edited March 6, 2023 by Achto 5
WHX?? 48,833 #2 Posted March 6, 2023 I think you are on the right path as long as your substitute packing can't be peeled off with bare fingers. The screen should negate things from being ingested?
953 nut 55,324 #3 Posted March 6, 2023 The NOVO air cleaners that came on my 953s all have what appears to be coarse Stainless steel wool and don't have any screen over it. 3
squonk 41,158 #4 Posted March 6, 2023 Originality is nice but I put a regular round air filter and housing on my 953.
