Eric,

Attached are the pictures of the tires. I think they may actually be ATV tires. No telling how old they are or if they are still available. They are great diggers!!

Just looked on e-bay and they have these in 23 inch, 24 inch and 25 inch. Enter the following in e-bay search;

 

carlisle AT 489 atv tires AT23 x 10-12

 

......but they ain't cheap!

 Sorry depleted uranium will not run your lights... but it will stop bullets from annoying neighbors...  used as armor plate on latest generation of M-1 tanks

To the best of my knowledge none of my neighbors are shooting my direction on purpose but protection from flying metal is always a plus!

One thing overlooked. Weight is fine. But there is only so much the tractor components will tolerate. These aren't Euclid TC-12 dozers we're running. Somethings gotta give and I'd rather have a wheel start to spin as opposed to snapping a gear or axle.

That was in fact the primary reason and one of the first lines in initial post. 

I want as much weight as the tractor  can handle but not at the compromise of

durability or   SAFETY. 

For me, yes .. and for the machine.

What would you folks suggest is a reasonable amount of weight? I am building a box for the 3 pt hitch on my GT 14 and figured if I could get between 200 and 300 lbs. on it I would be good to go. The GT 14 is a heavy tractor to begin with. Also, would like some info on how to put fluid in the rear tires. They are 15 inch with tubes. What say you all??

Not an expert voice but calling out the difference between:

- weight in or attached to the wheels/tires (supported at the ground only via tires) vs.

- weight attached to the frame (supported by frame, transaxle, and wheel bearings then to the tires and then ground).

 

There is less wear and tear on the tractor from the first than the second.

@squonk and @Pullstart have both done videos on fluid filling.  

I've been running Rimguard Tire Filling Fluid for years. 

Around here it's at or near the same price as RV antifreeze or even less.  

 

Trina and I just did the first set of ours by ourselves.  

I bought some 5 gallon pails and picked up the Rimguard at the distributor. 

We used a drill mounted pump. It was... Ok. 

Dreadfully slow!! But it worked.

Fluid Filling Tractor Tires

There's an angle attached to the left side of the receiver hitch bracket with a slot cut in it and the top is bent forward for the chain from the clevis hitch when not attached to the lift.

I can also use it for rear attached equipment depth control.  Note it's not welded on, it slips on and is helt tight with a set screw from the bottom.
