I may jump on the mint C121 I mentioned above from a Red member Youd be surprised. There was a Green 420, 60" tractor listed about 45 minutes away from me..guy said it ran great, mowed, no issues other than the deck was rough..and it was dirty...and the wiring was..not quite right. I drive there, he pushed a button, it started, it ran, drove it around. I paid him $2000, he followed me home with it, unloaded it. I hop on, ride it about 15 minutes and i know, something is amiss...its now running too fast. So, pull the engine, replaced the governor spacer, seals...restored the deck, buffed all the paint, new seat...it looked fantastic. First time i mowed with it, after 30 minutes it lost power...and spurting fuel out the intake. So i start digging in, and I start to find new gaskets...new valve cover gaskets, Intake gaskets, head gaskets...someone has just been here. Then i found the intake lash adjustment was fully turned in on one side..but no lash. Block was trashed from a seat coming loose and hammering out the block...engine was a boat anchor...and he knew it 1

Well I learned now that that engine spinning by hand isnt always a green light on buying any units. I didnt pay lots for it and I bought a bunch of accessories with it that I sold that I made money and basically the C101 doesnt owe me anything. I got fortunate in this case. Depending on what you have left in hand a short block might be all you need. That would certainly be the easier route to take now given what you've found. Any ball park idea just top of your head on what a crank, Rod, Rings, gasket kit, bearings would run cost wise? K241 Edited March 4, 2023 by ANTPER

K241 $250 or so plus machining on your crank if it's salvageable. Valve guides would be another $15-$20 if you need those. I don't rebuild motors any more so others might be able to give you better info but that should be pretty close.

I'll part out the blown motor,
