AHS 1,440 #1 Posted February 22, 2023 I got the (88?) Troy Bilt yesterday. The tines are in excellent condition, which means it hasn’t been used a whole lot. The drive cable was stuck. I sprayed it with some penetrating oil, let it sit overnight. It’s still stuck, just this morning. All the stickers are gone, which means the model #. So i grabbed the motor #, Tecumseh H30 and the tiller # which was stamped right into the driveshaft tube X0009469. So, i went online and typed in “Troy Bilt Tuffy drive cable” which brought up two # 946-04208 and 746-040208… the cable ends weren’t right. 946-04353A was the right cable ends! So, I don’t have a book.. im just going by what #”s the computer gave me! If any of you have a Tuffy OR a manual…(that would be excellent!) I just want to order the correct cable, 946-04353A seems to be the right one, expensive! Here are some pictures of the ends of the cable and the tiller. Thank you!
AHS 1,440 #3 Posted February 23, 2023 Thank you @1995 520H+96+97, your right up the road from me! I spent $30 on the cable and the carb. (I have spent $30 on a lot worse things!) The tines are in excellent shape. The seller said it hadn’t been run in two years…but, taking apart the carb had a different story! I’m gonna say it hadn’t been run in 10+ years! The float was dented and stuck open like I’ve never seen before!! The bowl gasket came off in pieces..not good. Oh well. Ill get her running! I’m thinking spring..if it ever gets here!! @ebinmaine
