Chevy for the win!

And for nothing at all related to racing but everything bow tie, I had to do a quick repair to the flat bed today…

Exactly how many parts in that race car are from a Chevy  The  stock in Nascar is a joke..In the old days when i still watched they were heavily modified but the engine block frames and sheet metal were usually  from real car...

I know, it’s not stock cars at all.  well Paul here’s some real Chevy working!  I found some free wood today and they’ll even load.

I’m just waiting in them to finish dropping the massive trunk.

All loaded up, I wonder how much weight this is?  The truck GVWR is 16,000 lbs.  The ride felt much nicer on the way home!

Didn't do to badly mesel' today. Big tree came down across the bridleway past my place two years ago. Chap landed up last week to saw it up. I'd have tackled it mesel' but self preservation kicked in. It was snagged on trees on the opposite side.

He came back today and left me a pile of firewood. Took the Sears GT16 and Saxon trailer and came back with a full load. :)

Interesting rear light arrangement. Be illegal over here in the UK. Also the white reflectors and I assume white reflective tape.

The diagonals are brakes, the round ones on top are running lights, white ones obviously reverse.  What makes them illegal?

The bed is 8’ wide.  It is hard to imagine the weight of this load, but it hauled swimmingly!

That’ll put out some BTUs for us!

Hey, I always secure my load, no matter how big or small!

My mistake. Was thinking the diagonals were rear lights. It is getting late over here.

By default, bow ties were sucking exhaust fumes all day. 😂😂😂IMO NASCAR has ruined the sport though. Too politicized, too many “fair” rules.

This year's Daytona 500 was a testament to the wisdom of a level playing field. A small one car team was able to win the race because the rules made them equal to the BIG MONEY teams. Without these rules the team with the biggest budget would win every race. Having a single source for each approved component keeps the competition fair and puts the driver's ability, the crew chief's strategy and Devine Intervention into play.

Many of the rules like the "Lucky Dog" (first car a lap down getting back on the lead lap during a caution) were the result of near catastrophes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beneficiary_rule

Allowing a team to use the strategy of getting back on the lead lap under caution if they do not pit also makes racing a whole bunch more interesting. Ned Jarrett won the 1965 Southern 500 by fourteen laps. This was a very noteworthy accomplishment but it didn't make the finish very exciting.
