formariz 11,987 #1 Posted February 20, 2023 My son got tired of replacing Tecumseh engines on our shredder and hauling it around. So he removed all unnecessary parts and adapted it to a tractor. I had this C-125 under a tarp for the last five years so I donated it to be a dedicated shredder tractor . Very appropriately he named it the Craftyhorse. 7
8ntruck 7,019 #2 Posted February 20, 2023 Nice job. I have an old 5 horse B&S powered chopper shredder. So far, the engine is fine. But, if it ever craps out, I think I'lldo a similar conversion. I do need to scratch up a hitch bar for it one of these days to use Horse power instead of me power to move it around.
Bill D 1,926 #3 Posted February 20, 2023 A friend offered me a free shredder awhile back. Haven't had a chance to get it yet. This really makes me want to go pick it up.

Retired Wrencher 5,465 #6 Posted February 20, 2023 Great job on the conversion. May be make a belt guard. Always good to have more tractors to do these kinds of jobs.

This will be also the tractor he will use on the property moving trailers around with firewood. The permanent front weight on it will improve the steering in those situations. 4 hours ago, squonk said: I got a little hitch on mine. So here is the full story on how it came to be. I had one just like yours for 35 years. Probably the best machine I ever owned. Had a Briggs engine. One day about a year ago while being used there was a real big bang where it actually jumped off ground. It stopped and upon inspection he realized the whole impeller assembly actually bent. So then he took the other one I had here also a Craftsman but larger. Always had trouble with that engine and could never really fix it. It always wanted to over rev. Shure enough soon after rod broke through block. He realized that engine from old one although less horse power fit perfectly on it. Changed it . Soon after it also was turning too fast. Something with governor got stuck inside. Not wanting to deal with it anymore decided to attach it to a tractor that would not only have a reliable engine but also made it easier to deal with moving and storing unit itself. That is when I volunteered a tractor that I did not need anyway. 2

Having the great big chipper shredder out front lends a hand to towing capacity for sure!
WHGuy413 2,706 #13 Posted February 24, 2023 I love it. Solutions like this are not only practical but most the time fun to figure out and build.
OutdoorEnvy 1,522 #14 Posted February 24, 2023 Great work! Tell your son well done on all accounts! Next chipper with a bad engine I come across will probably end up in back of my truck.
