Lee1977 6,656 #1 Posted February 19, 2023 I bought that Raider 12 we got to 100 dollars difference, his wife settled the difference with another 50 dollars off. It was something over 100 miles down there so I bought it. One hub was loose but the axle looks good, the hub still measures 1 1/8" so a new key, set screws and key way should fix it, also needs new axle seals. The other side I haven't check yet does look like it's loose. Once I get it cleaned up I'll get some pictures. It's a 1971 1-0310 6 778898 . It measures 37" wide in the rear with 23x8.5x12 tires. The 1-0310 6 778898 came right off the ID plate. It was originally a 6 speed, not sure if it is now. Off the ground both rear wheels turn the same way. The front spindle on the right side had rusted took both hands to turn that wheel off the ground, the grease fitting was also missing. Got it appart and sanded the spindle and axle cleaned and oiled added a fitting, working good now. His jack leg lawn shop had put short adjustablr tie rods on it with the wheel going in different directiond. Had some 3/8" heims joints that I had put on my dad's old Snapper. I used them to make some new tie rods, they may stay on if I can find the 3/8" ID steel tubing. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He said he had serviced every year, I haven't found any done rigjht so far. I have a lot of parts off my C-120 that will find a new home. I'm going to replace enough wireing to get it to run. then see what I have. He had some one to paint it, they took off the seat, wheels, covered the steering wheel taped the controls on the dash and painted everthing else along with a lot of existing dirt. Pulled the entire harness and started over. Every time I got it working, another gremlin would show up. The back was bent in and the seat are was push down. got it back where it some what looks like a Wheel Horse fender. It's a worker so It's good enough Needs some welding and reinforceing it has some cracks to the mount brackets. Had to beat the battery box back in shape also. Check out Tim's tractors ,talked tractors and had a great time. Tim wanted to check out my truck and we took a couple of pictures right before we left. Don was nice enough (and brave enough) to let me drive the return 40-ish mile trip. I very much enjoyed it! A very nice, one owner truck! Tim's tractors are the rare exception that look even better in person than in pictures. He was even brave enough to let me take the Work Horse for a spin. A very nice day indeed. I revived a couple 1/8" pieces to the out side of the hood to cover the large worn holes in the hood. The Raider hood hinges will have to come off as they are too close to where the bolts will be.. Need to check the tractor shed as I might have some rusty metal out there. Lee1977 6,656 #19 Posted March 23, 2023 I looked again found 3 pieces of 1 3/4" x 1/4" 6 1/2" long and one piece of 2" x 1/8" 6" long. I didn't think the 1 3/4" would work because it has slots cut in it. I checked and the slots are not in the way. Lee1977 6,656 #21 Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) I rubbed some paint off the frame paint off using the chain fall to put the engine back on. Lee1977 6,656 #23 Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) I cut off the Raider hood hinges when I fixed the axle pivot and added the front hitch. I had to bolt part of it back on when installed the hood. The off set breather I got from Richie. The breather was tight against the muffler when I got the muffler away from the hood. Lee1977 6,656 #24 Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) The holes in the hood for the hood latch were 1/2" or larger added some 1/8" tabs to cover the holes and had to make a longer latch rod. Fit good and tight now. One other thing I fixed was the lift was loose enough it would come by the latch. There isn't a way to shim inside the hood stand so I went to the other side under the belt guard. I drilled out a large washer to 1" fit it over thr lift bar . Drilled and tapped the lift bar to 3/8" fine treads add another washer to pull the lift tight. Don't have a picture of that, but it works great now also used some of Greasy Pete's treatment on it.
