Brockport Bill 1,661 #1 Posted February 14, 2023 I might have oil leak at the oil sentry switch for a Kohler M14 engine on a 314h. I have tightened switch unit with no success and plan to try teflon as solution??? If I need new switch, I am trying to determine the correct part number???? I have been all over the various online sites Toro, Parts Tree, Jacks etc -- plus the Kohler Engine site - - trying to I.D. the correct oil switch part number.... and its availability? It appeared it was # 92-7278 - but then maybe not? Then I found a # 25-704-03 and a 25-704-03-s .......then I found a variation as 25-704-04-s. All the parts sites show both the "03" as well as "04" switches being unavailable any longer. I did find a few on ebay for big $$$ - but I want to be sure its the correct part # -- not sure what the difference would be of the 03 versus the 04 at end of part number...or the importance of the suffix "S" ? Last question - have many owners just removed the switch if they have a thread leak and added a plug to stop a leak? Thanks

SPINJIM 1,981 #3 Posted February 14, 2023 (edited) I had to replace the oil sentry switch on my KT17. I found that the leak was not around the threads, but that the top had a small crack where the metal part and the porcelain part were joined. Eventually, the crack got bigger, and blew oil all over the engine. About a year ago, the part number from my local Toro dealer was 24-099-03S for $26.20. Don't know if the part is the same for the M14 and the KT17, but worth checking. Good luck Jim Edited February 14, 2023 by SPINJIM

Interesting to learn the local Toro dealer had the switch sentry for you in stock - KT17 switch is a different part number than the switch number for M12 and M14 hp Kohler... which is no longer available ----

SPINJIM 1,981 #6 Posted February 14, 2023 If you find a good Toro dealer, preferably one that was a Wheel Horse dealer, they might be able to give you an equivalent item number. My dealer down here is Metzler Mower, (717) 687-7995. At least one member of the family is a WH collector, and usually attends the WH Show; very customer friendly. If they can research the new item number, they could probably ship to you. Jim
biged77 113 #7 Posted February 14, 2023 I removed mine and plugged the hole during a rebuild. A member here needed a switch so I sent it to him. I check the oil level before starting each time so I really don't need the switch. I have two more WHs that still have the switches but if I do a rebuild on these or if they start leaking I will probably remove them.
