C series front wheels fit 701 or 704?

Needing front wheels for a 704 and wondering if the C series tractor front wheels will work. Have a C-160 roller available for purchase. Any other series tractors that had front wheels interchangable with 704?

Hmmmm... the 3/4" spindle diameter is the same, but I think the distance thru the hub is too great... C series wheels are pretty deep...

...And, the rim width is wider for a larger tire on the C series.

Years ago, I boght two new mounted front tires on rims at Lowes - they were the replacement parts for the line of Husquvana tractors they were selling at the time. Tires were wider than the skinny 702 OE tires, the hub was a tad shorter. worked fine....

The older WH tractors had 4 1/4"  hubs the later had 3 3/4" hubs. Most of the new wheels you find have a shorter hub then 3 3/4". A pack of 3/4" top hitch spacer washers from Tractor Supply will take care of that. The above is measured with the bearings in place.

Not sure I understand. The older WH have a longer hub than the newer ones even though the outer rims are more narrow?

The front axle was narrow on the early models , the RJ's and the early number series 5xx, 6xx, and the 7xx the tractors were 30" wide.  The 8xx as near as I can tell went to 36" wide that sayed standard width on.with the garden tractors.

There are a few exceptions D's and the Later 520's

Well… there’s plenty of room for a larger tire on a round hood if that’s what you’re asking.

As for fitment without modification, if the wheel doesn’t quite fit the spindle, I believe you can swap the spindles as well onto the 704.  It ‘63, the “new” front axle design came out, lasting practically forever.
