EB-80/8inPA 1,753 #1 Posted February 11, 2023 YouTube slapped this up for me and it seemed shareworthy. Perhaps some of you will find this informative and useful: He seems to have accounted for all the variables comparing these four engines. Or has he? 1 4
953 nut 56,742 #2 Posted February 11, 2023 Good video, My pressure washer has a Honda engine which cost me an additional $ 50 when I bought it fifteen or so years ago. On average the washer gets about twenty or so hours of annual operation and in my opinion that is the best $ 50 I ever spent. The Honda always starts on the first or second pull and though I check the spark plug annually I haven't replaced it yet. 2
CCW 1,314 #3 Posted February 11, 2023 I agree, good video. Also agree I am a Honda fan. Don't think he gave the second dirtiest plug of the Predator enough weight.
OutdoorEnvy 1,707 #4 Posted February 11, 2023 I saw this when he posted. I like his channel. I think this was good to see. I think for a low use machine a predator is hard to argue against as a value option if money is a concern. If this is going to be a high hour user though I think the Honda wins the day obviously. The knock off seemed really bad though. Would take a predator engine over that one all day.
skrusins 128 #5 Posted February 12, 2023 I have a Honda motor on my McLane edger I bought in 1987. Change oil that is all even has same spark plug and still starts on second pull. He even used it to cut several yards will in high school.
kpinnc 13,105 #6 Posted February 12, 2023 There are so many clones out there that it's hard to know whether they are rebadged originals or flat out copies. I bought my daughter a go-kart more than 15 years ago with a "generic" gx 6.5 on it. Even now, it starts on the second pull. Not sure how the current offerings stack up, but I count myself lucky on mine.
RED-Z06 2,379 #7 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) AndClones are a mixed bag...have been a while. 2007 i could tell you any part off any clone will directly fit on the comparable Honda and work. The clones were effectively all identical back then, They were all made in a few plants located in Jiangdong and Chongqing China..and rebadged as Lifan, WEN, LCT, Jiangdong...and i mean these clones were perfect copies. See Honda had gone to China to make their parts so they literally handed them Dies, molds, casts, metallurgy figures, dimensions...and as these toolings were aged out they were copied. When the international protections Honda had on these engines expired around 07, they were shipped globally in higher numbers. But, they got sued...and lost, over and over...So the brand would fold, and reopen the next week a different color and name. But over time they were forced to make changes to make them different from Honda, so now we have a mix of head designs, controls, tank shapes..recoil shapes. Then, seeing the writing on the wall, Kohler opened a plant in china that made clones, then Briggs...then LCT purchased Tecumsehs name and started branding clones as Tecumseh... Now...15 years later, Toro/Exmark/MTD engines are all Chinese, Many Briggs engines are made in China, kohler too. Honda parts still come from China and some assembly is done there too. I like Honda, my 5000psi power washer is a Honda 390 and it just runs hard ar 20 years old, but my log splitter is a clone, as is my backup 4400 power washer, and they both start 1 pull every time too... Handy Don 13,085 #8 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) The Hondas that impress me to the ground are the generators. My friend's EU3000is is astonishingly quiet and smooth. Usually starts on 2nd or 3rd pull after being left in a shed for 6 months since the last time it was tested! Edited February 12, 2023 by Handy Don

If you ever have to put a rope on one you'll curse them
