tips/tricks for a 520h Tensioner pulley replacement?

Recommended Posts

stegs

new pulley arrives tonight, so hopefully late tonight or tomorrow i can get it replaced before the lake effect snow arrives (this is my snowblowing tractor)

Any tips or tricks that will help me with this project

Anything i can do to make it easier on myself and make the replacement easy?

Last time i did one was on my c-141 gear drive. That was fairly easy......

Only tips I can offer:

- I’m assuming you have the wheel, side tin, and maybe even the fender off -- extra room makes the job lots faster

- remove the tensioner spring completely rather than trying to hold the arm (and I use a vise grips and a loop of wire to pull on the spring for re-installation)

- thread the drive belt around all the pulleys before inserting the pivot bolt for the tensioner pully--there is so little slack that I found it too hard to re-thread the belt after the pulley was mounted

Good luck!

I use the brake tool to pull the spring down and hook it on the stud.

I use this "thingy" for alot of my spring removal / instalation projects, it came with the kids trampoline.

Just a little L bend on the end of it. :tools-wrench:
