Pullstart 62,891 #2 Posted January 30, 2023 Wow! We have about 8-12” on the ground here. The perfect amount to play in, but not worry about it being a burden!
ri702bill 8,323 #3 Posted January 30, 2023 So far in RI nothing to plow yet - yet.... The old girls are a-waitin' to play...
biltno 32 #4 Posted January 30, 2023 I have a 1989 416-8 since new mower/bagger plow then bought single stage snow blower from an old horse for 150.00 . Two years ago I bought a 1989 520h with 42 inch rear discharge deck. That storm i sent pictures of was so deep that in places the single stage with short chute would not go through that deep heavy snow it took hours to do just a single path down my driveway. The town truck which is basically identical to what the DOT uses would not go through it. 3 days later they used a front end loader. 1

peter lena 8,629 #6 Posted January 30, 2023 @biltno I too live in conn, south east , ledyard ct , little to no snow , notice the 2 link chain set up on @ri702bill rear tires ? thats what you want , combined with added weight , really gets it done , also add some penetrating oil or used oil to plow face for effortless snow release , stops dry rusty surface, no snow , pete
squonk 41,118 #7 Posted January 30, 2023 I scraped the 1" of snow of the sidewalk from the "storm " we had last week with HHHOOOWWWAAARRRDDD!!!! Didn't even need chains! I think we got about 6" here total for the season!

That's what's holding up one end of the gray tarp shed for the winter until we can move it down to the bottom of the embankment. The foolish thing has tried to flip over... once partially and once successfully.

Three of the four have metal roofing. No need for Ice n Water Shield under that. The other one is the shed with the bright red doors where the chickens live. Trina and I have not yet decided what to do with that building but if it goes to heck it will not be saved....

CCW 1,295 #15 Posted January 30, 2023 Well I'm in the Hartford area, Simsbury, and nary a flake on the ground. Only one minor snowfall last December.
rjg854 11,362 #16 Posted January 30, 2023 Yesterday it was 46° and I was filling potholes in the driveway. Barely had any snow that needed attention. Long range forecast shows us in the 30s during the day for the most part. February is looking similar to January.

sscotsman 148 #19 Posted January 30, 2023 Winter is now 60% over (three months down, two to go) and still not one single use of the snowblower in Rochester NY! amazing... I don't think we have had more than 2" on the ground at any one time, and it's always melted away in a few days. Scot
EB-80/8inPA 1,641 #20 Posted January 30, 2023 I got all the things ready to deal with the snow. That these efforts proved to be time utterly wasted bothers me not in the least. It would be great to get some accumulation recharging the ground water, I suppose, but I just don’t miss the stuff. It’s a PITA.
