I am in agreement. with @squonk fasting may not be the answer. I know you are a grease monkey it could be something to do with the chemicals you are around on a weekly basis. It also could be the type of food you eat. Just my ole man . Go have a complete physical. I was going to recommend the same, anything you do without professional supervision could have detrimental results. Trust your body, something isn't right. Coming from a man that did get checked many times because things that were going on that didn't seem right. For ten years, I thought I was going out of my mind, nope finally was diagnosed with MS.

So I had about 20EKGs with no flags. Then about 20 years ago during a preexam for a twin hernia operation, the gas man spotted a problem on the EKG that triggered a stress test, then a TV camera inside my pump to see what was wrong. He found 30% blockage in the small vessels on the back side where nothing could be done except take the meds to prevent any further clogs and run the camera back in the pump every 5 years to check on the blockage. A good diet, exercise, and a low BMI goes a long way to prevent problems. But if a problem all ready exists, please get it checked out.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,297 #31 Posted January 24, 2023 A good family doctor is the starting point. Start by telling the Dr. how you feel and every Rx and OTC you take. If you have a good pharmacist, ask if he /she could see if any RX 's are fighting each other and if any OTC you are taking has a bad reaction to your RX. You may have to see specialists if the ole family Doc scratches his/her head and says, " you are just getting older ". I am lucky that the VA takes care of me, every 6 months my primary care Dr. checks me out.

That's a particularly lazy and very wrong mass accepted diagnosis. I had a helluva time getting any headway towards help with my .... "Condition".

They have been great while deciphering the dos and don’ts for sure, but this has been my decision ultimately. Part of this fast is to eliminate carbs and sugars, so the body can eat the stored energy for a bit. EB (and maybe Trina) pointed out there’s likely sugar in the supplement powder I took on Friday morning. The update on sugar content was their idea, keeping that off the table and out of my cup. 7 hours ago, Pullstart said: I want to do stuff without losing my breath. 1 hour ago, WHX?? said: Thats a red flag right ther and should have nothing to do with your diet. Namely, it effects me most when my gut pushes up on my diaphragm. If it wasn’t in the way, I bet I’d be much better off. 1 hour ago, WHX?? said: Have you consulated a professional or your doctor? I have not since the fall, when they told me I’m grossly obese (or some funny exaggeration word). I get an annual physical through Mrs. P’s work as part of our insurance program. Eat healthier and exercise were at the top of their list.

I do but I gag nine packs a day... you have never smoked. 1

Mickwhitt 4,617 #39 Posted January 27, 2023 I've done the 5 and 2 intermittent fasting regime and it works for me. I had more energy and felt better. The guy over here who was testing it on a TV show said if we eat like we have become used to because food is ultra available its like driving a car in first gear at 60mph all the time and the body never gets chance to recover. Definitely backed up but science. You go for it Kev. 1
Sailman 1,291 #40 Posted January 27, 2023 Congrats of the fasting and no surprise your feeling better. There is a significant value to occasional fasting in our modern over indulgent world. Even losing just 5 pounds can make a difference in feeling better, more energy, etc. Tomorrow marks the last day of the 21 day Daniel fast that my wife and our church do every year. Its a spiritual experience but there are significant health benefits too. Great way to "correct" the bad eating habits developed over the holidays!
Pullstart 62,834 #41 Posted January 27, 2023 Wow @Sailman and especially Mrs. Sailman! I can only imagine the change that would bring! Hopefully she safely gains the energy the food will being as she begins to eat again!
Sailman 1,291 #42 Posted January 27, 2023 Guess I better define a Daniel fast. We start with a 24 hour water fast then next 20 days we do eat but very limited. Only veggies, fruits, nuts. No meat, cheese, milk, sugar, coffee, bread, etc. Nothing with additives, only olive oils, and lots of water. Veggies, veggies....and more veggies. Dying for a nice thick steak! My wife is a personal chef so its been especially hard for her. I remember the first one we did years ago. Went into a convenience store and the only thing I could buy was a bottle of water, a banana and an apple! Going to the grocery store is sheer torture

Pullstart 62,834 #44 Posted January 28, 2023 So yesterday, I weighed in at 5.6 lbs down for the week. Must have been a scale issue, because today I checked again and I’m down 9.2 lbs! 32,200 calories! That’s 57 Big Macs! 3 1
Pullstart 62,834 #45 Posted January 29, 2023 Today is my first day of my 3 day fast goal. It was action packed with a wrestling tournament that Rylee placed 2nd in her division, so the majority of the day I never had the time thoughts of food and hunger. I had a shot of home made vitamin c drink this morning with my coffee, and a tea with a lemon wedge at dinner time. Otherwise, it’s been water only. I determined a goal weight loss. 16.1 lbs. That’ll be 100 Big Macs in calorie count! 2

Pullstart 62,834 #47 Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) I’m feeling pretty great this morning. I had a dream that I blew it on some nasty greek yogurt covered sweets and they tasted awful! The hunger has resided again. I’ll surely break the 38 hour mark I hit the first time. I had some calming tea last night and it helped edge any nerve for foods. I’ve crammed some water and vitamins this morning. I figured I’ll save my coffee for when I feel I need a boost, instead of just a morning thing to do. Otherwise, I have some green tea bags that I might steep here or there. I’ve gotten quite a bit of PM support, and I thank y’all for that! Thanks for sharing your experiences as well! It’s all a mind game. I’m just more stubborn than some greek yogurt snacks! Edited January 30, 2023 by Pullstart
ebinmaine 67,422 #48 Posted January 30, 2023 Friday night I did a fast of about 16, 17 hours. Wasn't quite shooting to go that long but I was busy when I got up in the morning Saturday so it was all good. Saturday night and Sunday night was more like in the 13, 14-hour range. Aches and pains have been kind of kicking my tail lately but I'm trying to stay active as much as I can even if it's only moderate movements. Saturday afternoon we went for a nice little snowshoe excursion out in the forest. That was about 90 minutes of exercise. Anybody who knows about snowshoeing will tell you it's a roughly three or four to one ratio of walking energy versus snowshoeing energy because of the body mechanics involved and the fact that you have to lift your feet so far at every step.. Balancing is also very VERY different on snowshoes. That was a great exercise. Really tuckered me out. I've been trying to keep my food intake had a reasonable level while also maintaining an appropriate concentration of protein which is pretty challenging for me actually. I'm down somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5, 2 lb, since Friday morning. I've been getting a fairly decent intake of water as well so I believe that number to be realistic and not just dehydration. Work days that are slow like the next couple are going to be can be a little tough to get through without wanting to snack...

After Rylee’s wrestling last night, we went to the Mexican joint in town. Margaritas flowing, free chips and salsa, burritos, tacos, enchiladas. I had my tea and watched 5 people have their dinners. I was fine. I prepared myself for the temptations. The salsa was even in front of me and was being scooped on both sides. I don’t need that, I need this. 1
Pullstart 62,834 #50 Posted January 31, 2023 I’m closing in on 11 hours from my 3 day fast completion. Not down much weight, though my only intake has been water, coffee (1 or 2 cups daily is all), and up to three cups of tea per day. Hopped on the scale this morning at 190.something. Last week, I was at 192. I still feel like I’m trimming up. I still feel like 11 more hours is nothing. I have half a burger calling my name in the fridge come 8 pm tonight. I’ll likely scramble it up in an egg for some quick protein. 1
