WHX?? 48,815 #30 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Got her home today. I usually don't name my tractors but she came with two big boxes of parts and one had a tank stand for a C-160 and a B-80. So no more no name... she's Aunt B... Overall she's in pretty good shape. No gas tank and some other minor stuff. Nothing a trip out to the magic parts shed won't fix. Pop the head off tomorrow and other wrenching and the new to me list. See what this "rebuild" looks like. Go thru those boxes and see what shakes. Looks to be both horse parts and others. The gasket set is for a sweet 16. Edited January 28, 2023 by WHX?? 5
WHX?? 48,815 #31 Posted January 28, 2023 Bonus hood... looks like the hood collection got added to @Pullstart Me thinks the seller was trying to clean out his parts on me. I can live with that. Really good shape and strait. Off a long frame hydro... 10 or 1277? 5 1

WHX?? 48,815 #33 Posted January 28, 2023 Yep... & a nice RD 36 deck. Shell in real good shape. Missing some things as well but nothing major and certainly not a deal breaker. 2
Pullstart 62,846 #34 Posted January 28, 2023 In Cadillac, that thing’s gotta be worth at least $129482!
WHX?? 48,815 #35 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) Looks like it's been rebulit but never saw fire. Bore looks fresh valves ground or at least lapped. Points pitted and never set & no wire from points to coil. Appears to me no one ever tried to fire it after rebuild. Points in Terrible shape but cleaned up and throw a new condenser at her. Working on fuel line and wiring now. Edited January 29, 2023 by WHX?? 4
WHX?? 48,815 #36 Posted January 29, 2023 Update ... Got a little bit done between $crewin the pooch and chores. A plastic C-160 tank will not fit but older metal ones do with minor mods and plumbed. What condenser? There was none .. there is now. Might have got lost in the rebuild? Abit more wiring to get sorted and might be ready for fire. Dan says I should drop the float bowl.... damn him I know he's right! A guy has got to wonder why someone would go thru the trouble and expense of a rebuild but then never finish? Life got in the way I suppose. 3

But why is it I keep digging out all these C-160 parts when I don't even have one... yet... Me thinks 'cause @ebinmaine is hoarding them. Bucket list tractor ya know. Well I'm gonna take it as a sign from the powers that be since ther was a 16 gasket kit in this haul something is gonna happen... 2

So I'll elaborate abit on that... there's a guy in Caddy MI that posts on CL quite abit. Now I'm sure he's a nice guy and just wants to make a clam or three... but his prices are quite high for scrap. If you are a member here guy no apologies dude but when I can score a horse like this for a benny... just sayin... 1

Like an entire FEL project on hold because a guy needs to put the new o-rings in the cylinders already torn down? I wouldn’t know how that feels since November…

Two of my C160s + Trina's 1045 and 857. 3 of those 4 we were chosen by the PO as the buyer which was really cool. I wouldn't mind seeing a 953/1054 in Trina's Herd but I'm likely done "accidentally" buying up all the C160-8s in the area. Of mine: One runs and drives. Two are close. The rest need to be built before I get more... 8 hours ago, kpinnc said: . I got enough parts for 3 or 4 more We had a big "parts/projects pile" here too. Most of that has gone to other Redsquare folk like @Oldskool and @OldWorkHorse. 8 hours ago, kpinnc said: I'm just gonna build them from here out however I like them THAT, my friend is the only way I'd build one. As much as I enjoy a beautiful restoration piece they just aren't the best workers for us. 2

On another note and it may be a non-issue if you don't ever spray you motor down, but you really never want water to lay on the business end of the condenser. If the wire has enough length, you might want to flip it over when you install the new solenoid 4

WHX?? 48,815 #47 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) Got it turning over and running on sniffing choke cleaner... actually had it running on her own for abit but now nothing. When i had the head off i lubed the bore abit for not a dry start. Lack of fuel I suspect and pump issues. Pull that apart and a full carb cleaning instead of just a bowl wipe out. Sorry @Achto... I have failed you! Switched teams on the plug. Only cause FF did not have a J8 in Chomponion... go figure. Like this plug better anyway. Nice bright fire. Tire valve stem rack was completely empty. Yah... supply chain issues. WTF? Flipped the condenser per @GAJoe and fitted my analness perfectly. Thank you sir. 😊 Edited January 31, 2023 by WHX??
