Well done Sir

Thanks, we're not out of the woods yet, wind is supposed to ramp up today, not a good thing for ice laden trees... :scared-shocked:

We have about 15" of fresh snow here. We had 30mph winds last night. With 45 mph gusts. It is still snowing. So? The totals will change. Luckily? The wind that was so strong from the northeast? Has started to change to the west northwest. That means? The snow can blow back in from the west. :greetings-clappingyellow:. We have 2 to 3 foot drifts everywhere. Tonight? Slowing winds. Temps fall to -12f. Windchill in the- 25 to- 30 area. And now? Rain early next week. You just gotta love living in Minnesota. :text-bump:

We're in between 2 storms here in Maine.

Last night and this morning we had about 6" fall.

Later today another couple.

I ran the Ariens commercial walk behind snowblower while Trina had all the fun on her go-to worker "Pigpen"  867.

Impressive little beasts aren't they?

Just a few weeks ago Trina used her 867 with a 42" plow to move 11"  of fresh fallen snow. I didn't think it would do it but she tried it anyway and was perfectly fine.

Definitely. Heck my 160 ain’t worth getting out for this piddly snow we’ve been getting. Wheel weights, fill and chains it just hooks up. What I need is a bigger blade I think and more snooooowwwwww!😜

No seat time this winter for the snow machines.       The high winds did bring down some trees that created some work for a couple horses.

winter

We've had little winter weather this year. Back a few weeks ago we got almost 30" of snow in 5 or 6 days but that was the biggest spell.

Most of that was gone...

  ... .until this past week.

Old Man Winter is NOT finished up with our area yet!

We just cleaned up about 6-½". More forecast for tomorrow afternoon.

Then another bigg'un Tuesday and Wednesday.

Then another on Thursday afternoon in to Friday.

I can't say I miss the big snowstorms we used to get.         That Old Father Time has a way of changing our likes and dislikes.

Largest snowfalls for us always comes just before the break of spring. You know this by having these dumps and it melts away in a few days. Hang in there it’s almost over. Get ready for bugs, grass and people. 😜😂😬

Looks like we will get another two or three inches today. Saturday we are going to get the big storm that's coming across the nation

Another 8 to 14 on that one depending on who you listen to...

Forecast here is who the hell knows till we get it...

Interesting thing here is @Pullstart @Ed Kennell is watching how the whitetails are surviving in this stuff. At home they were scratching in 6 inches for green grass. Here thats impossible. Just absolutely amazing critters. Ill try to get into it more into on the other thread about how they cope.

sticks, twigs, any corn still standing (our DNR plants a ton and never harvests), etc.  they’ll even eat pine trees if they are desperate!  Nature’s tea!

We have gotten about 4 or 5 inches in the past 3-4 hours.  It’s coming down pretty decent, but not the 8-12 they were warning about!

Fact is , many don't survive harsh winters in the higher elevations of the big woods.     When the acorns and beech are unavailable under the snow and ice, the deer have to turn to browse only.  Eventually the browse line raises so high only the largest and strongest deer can reach the feed.  Cruel, but a good natural culling and strengthening  of the herd.

I've seen these high browse lines and participated in some of the winter kill surveys where we walked certain streams each spring and counted the winter kills.

This data was part of the equation used by the PAGC to determine herd population and to set the doe tag limits for the next year.

8" of very heavy snow... list numerous tree limbs probably another white pine or two completely. :( Cracking and dropping all night...

Horses took good care of the drives. A bit of cleanup work this am... forecast should melt it by Monday...
