RIP Jeff Beck

Recommended Posts

If you appreciate guitar playing you have to know Jeff Beck. Unique, inimitable, innovative, and an outright class act. Never a “rock start pose “ never showing off , always deferred to other greats when playing with them, even though they were always clearly eager to hear what other out of this world sound he would come up with. Humble and a total gentleman when interviewed.

Perhaps signaling the end of an era in guitar players .

I have several of his albums. Definitely a diverse and great player. “Freeway Jam” is my favorite.

I would like to think that they are together again playing with their favorite Strats. Gone but their legacies will be here forever.

I have the house to myself today, and just found my LP copy of Blow by Blow.  I believe it'll be a good day to spend some quality time with Jeff and my turntable.

I once had the LP, but all my collection is digital now. I'm going to play Blow by Blow now too. The album came out in 1975, but I didn't hear it until I was in college in 1977.  It never gets old, and brings back some very good (and in some cases, some very "foggy") memories. I have been playing guitar (and not very well, mainly due to my own lack of commitment to practice), and Jeff is one of my favorite guitarists who I would love to be able to emulate.

Thank you for the music, Jeff.  RIP.

Sorry to hear that, but it seems that the rockers of my era are dropping like flies.

This is what I believe was one of his last performances if not the very last. As always his trademark, sleeveless shirt and the one of a kind Strat with the upside down head stock made for him. Surrounded as always by excellent musicians unknown to most such as Rhonda.  Besides his gifted hands he had the gift of recognizing and bringing to the forefront musicians others would not contemplate specially women. A real example of how to manage your unique endless talent in a humble manner using it to give others opportunities which otherwise they may never have.  Sadly one can also  see the noticeable decline in his body by now even though he might of not been sick then. A true classy human being.

Sad, but they aren't "spring chickens" any more.  Many of them lived a very non-healthy lifestyle too.  But for some, like Keith Richards, it's almost like after a given amount of alcohol and drugs, they are preserved like living mummies....

Even though they were generations apart those two had a special relationship not only evidenced by this video but also by the adoring looks Tal always gave him.
