Nope it still has the stock 6hp Techy. Not exactly sure what I am going to do with it yet.

Interesting. My ‘68 LR’s 6hp Tecumseh has a bendix/flywheel starter. Yours looks like a starter/generator (from the right side, anyway).

I wanted one of these and saw them on Flea-Bay for about $75 plus about $25 shipping but didn't want to spend that much, so I built my own from a $15 receiver tube, a few plates of metal and a piece of rebar I had laying around.  I have a spare front Tach-A-Matic receiver that I'm going to modify to put in place of the stock hitch on the back, then I can mount this hitch back there.  I built a battery box/winch attachment on a 2" insert, which then I can mount on either the front or the back.  I also have ideas to make a boom for lifting things, and I have a 2" cargo tray I can mount on there also. It really adds to the versatility of the tractor.

I thought I posted some already, but maybe I forgot... 

 

This is just the receiver, plate, and rebar spot welded in place, no "ears" for the bottom bar yet.  My welds are ugly, but I've pulled out some pretty big logs with the winch on this already:

Here is mine......I built it over the holidays because I was bored.  All made from scrap steel except the receiver tube.  I still want to put some quick disconnects on the wire connections, figure out a battery hold down solution, and I need to wait until warmer weather to paint it, but it will work if I need it until then.  My main goal was to be able to swap the winch/battery assembly from the front of the tractor, to the back, and also to the tongue of my utility trailer so I could use it to pull things up onto the trailer.

SWEET!!  Much nicer than mine.  And like @Handy Don said, nice collection of scrap. (I've been keeping my eye open for freebies but haven't scored any lately, guess I need to buy some).

 

Yeah, I'm planning to do the quick disconnects thing, front & back, a more "integrated" switch for the winch, and I think I've got the hold down figured out but haven't installed it yet.

 

Not sure if you saw what I mentioned about the Tach-A-Matic, but you can get one of those front ones for not too much money.  I have one already and I'm going to adapt it for the rear hitch so I can move the 2" receiver back there. I hope, anyway. . If I had a utility trailer, I'd want to be able to mount it on there too. The reason I first bought this winch was to get a non-running car onto a U-Haul flatbed trailer.  It pulled a 1992 Porsche 924 with a stuck rear brake drum up there.  Strained, but made it.

Thanks.....and yes I do.  I'm lucky to have access to pretty much an unlimited supply of plate steel in random shapes, sizes, and thicknesses 1/4" and less.  Most of it is painted, but nothing a flap wheel or two can't handle.  Its crazy how expensive materials have become.  I make the rounds past every scrap bin at work on a weekly basis to make sure nothing goes to waste.

 

Also.....check your local scrap yards/recycling centers.  We have a good one here that sells scrap steel by the LB.  Pick out what you want, weigh it, pay, and walk out.  I VERY rarely buy steel retail anymore unless its something specific.

Yup,,,,,Sahd Metal Recycling.  I've picked up a ton of useful crap there over the years.

And yes, we are pretty close.  I'm just South of Lancaster in Willow Street, but spent many of my younger years stomping around in your backyard.  My Dad's family is from the Delta/Airville area, and I've been through Felton many times.

I am the same. I often tell folks that I'm no welder- but I can stick two pieces of steel together so they don't pull apart ...

@OoPEZoO   looking right at it  ?  opportunity  your female  front mount  hitch end , relation to the  bolt hole on the  plow frame ? put an eye bolt in that , and a lift spring to your hitch end, adaptor , spring pull should only enhance blade lift , your scrap steel / weld skills , can easily envision  a  hook up . maybe  even  an angular  slide in lift point  for a heavier / larger spring ? you are right there , pete

Of course, adding spring assist to the lift also reduces the down pressure on the plow scraper edge so this becomes a balance between comfort and performance!
