Apparently, it was modified. I do need an electric clutch or replacements for the Hub and friction plate. Edited January 23, 2023 by Sparks58

If not I have one... The one behind it good but the diameter of the outer pully is smaller. Is that not the one for the rotary deck drive? If the inner is it, I'm covered on the bell.

Blasterdad 2,692 #40 Posted January 24, 2023 (edited) Looking good! I rebuilt a deck just like yours last year, I converted it to a newer Tach-A-Matic carrier system. Those decks are SOLID & mow great! It'll be headed for the paint booth in the spring. The only problem was the fully enclosed belt gaurd design. It traps dirt, grass, & moisture, which eats up the tensioning bar's plastic bushings & guides. The newer style decks had a 3 piece guard system which allows you to be able to blow / wash all that out. I leave the cover off my older decks so I can clean them after each time I mow, (I'm the only one who operates my tractors & don't have kids or pets around to worry about). I'm not suggesting you do the same, just take the cover off occasionally, or in the fall when you're done mowing for the season & clean it out good. The is looking good too... Tractors with full steps pretty much cover the spindles anyway so far as where feet can go. If you decide to leave it on, just be sure to remove it and clean the spindle area regularly. On the 42SD, the grass isn't the only problem. That stamped depression acts like a swimming pool for condensation and it will rust no matter what you paint it with. Sparks58 51 #42 Posted January 26, 2023 Same reason I don’t put the covers on my JD. I’ll pass on the wisdom of owners to the SIL. Thank you my friends. I’ve also told him he needs to join.
