Tonytoro416 1,034 #1 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) I know this topic has been on and off but I haven’t found exactly what I am looking for. I recently purchased some 23x8.50-12 Carlisle Versa Track tires and put them on my Raider 12. I like the tires and want to put a set on my 416H. Kicker is I think the 9.50 is too narrow and the next size they currently make is 24x12-12. I am not opposed to running a spacer but has anyone achieved this? Pictures plz if so. Also I wonder if I need a 10 or 10.50 wide wheel to keep the tire fairly flat across the tread pattern. I’m not sure 8.50 wide 520 wheels would be the look I would be happy with. As usual you guys will help and I appreciate all of it. Thanks again Edited January 9, 2023 by Tonytoro416
ri702bill 8,327 #2 Posted January 9, 2023 You need to consider the true diameter of the rear tire - if too large, it could affect getting a cutting deck level. Interresting front wheel weights - homemade?? Bill
pfrederi 17,741 #3 Posted January 9, 2023 I am always fascinated by tire discussions. In picking the tire for a WH my considerations are: First is tread pattern that is best for intended use. Second is tire width based on intended use. Third is Price!! What is not a consideration "The Look" 1

What is not a consideration "The Look" I’m not worried about price if they work well. I like these tires because they are essentially a tire that can used in grass and in the snow. So my thought is I’m getting two tires worth out of one. These tires aren’t hard like a bias ply nor do they have the sharp grass eating edges on them

ri702bill 8,327 #8 Posted January 9, 2023 Confused - I am not interrested in buying them - just wanted to know if they were store bought or homemade. I make my own out of 25 pound flat barbell weights - done 2 sets so far... Bill

Fronts are actually trolley wheels used in a factory to shuttle molten metal from one end to the other. My grandfather had them. He drilled holes to bolt them on so I guess kind of homemade on those

Respectfully, I have to clarify. At least as I understand it. So long as the deck is functioning as designed, the tires should have little effect on the deck. Wheel Horse decks "float" seperately from the tractor- at least to the limits of travel. The condition of the guage wheels and attachment rack is far more important. A slack tire on one side or the other can exert pressure if the frame leans enough, but so far as tire size is concerned- if the rack drops down enough to allow slack, you're likely ok. I might buy a pair for my B-100 when I get around to working on it. I put Carlisle Ags on my GT-1848 because I needed the traction in muddy fields and snow plowing. Still have turfs on everything else, but both rears on my 416-H are shot so I need to do something about those. I'll want either 9.50 or 10.50's for that, probably the 10.50, so I'm going to see what other recommendations come up in this thread. Pretty sure you'd need spacers to run 12" wides. fortyeightjake 7 #15 Posted January 11, 2023 I've been checking out these tires online, cool to see a set mounted up. They look like the perfect mix between an ag and turf tire. I also wish they'd make them in a 23x10.5x12
clueless 3,002 #16 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) A 24x12x12 on a 10 or 10.50 wheel is doable but there will be fitment issue to deal with. I think the 9.50 on a 520 8.5 wheel will give you everything you need for the tractor except looks, but looks got nothing to do with function.
