Plow Springs

with plows going on ,  its easy to relate to a  heavy arm lift , without hydraulics , used my existing  threaded  lift eyes on the lower corners of my  hood attachment points ,and also added a lift eye to the handy rear hole in the back of the quadrant area .  having  an assist , right at the  weight area , makes it very affective. using   3" x 3/4 "  extension springs , found these  , just let the balde gently  clean , yet make lifting much easier . you could also add a turnbuckle to this , for a  dial it in  perfect setting . add small shackles if you want . tightened up the spring ends  to insure  , no pop offs . arm lift ease  is about  60/ 70 %  lighter . that combined with a slick / smooth  steering quadrant , makes for  much easier operation . only a suggestion , have this set up on 2  horses , tried it on one , worked out the  issues , and duplicated that on the other.  you can't do that , pete

@ebinmaine  was also thinking  about a  straight vertical  lift from frame to  plow frame , just enough to take the dead weight off the  lift arm .  a simple go to point , would let you experiment with springs . pete

@WHGuy413  often experiment with an idea , the unassisted lift arm  set up is the issue , has to be easy to hook up ,  spring pull has to be just enough  to make lift much easier , yet  not hold it off ground . that was my TURNBUCKLE  thought , with that on a vertical spring , you could dial in what you want . think the closer you are to the heavy / blade front , the more effective . have no issues at all with  improving / enhancing what I  do think a frame build up stage , in a restoration set up , would allow more idea areas . adding a lift eye  is easy , don,t worry , I  won,t tell you , that you can't do that . make it better , pete

I think it’s a great idea. Currently the boys are doing the plowing when it snows as long as they are home. Neither has complained yet and it helps build character 😂

@peter lena I'd do the springs but how else am I gonna maintain my 59 year old eye candy status if I don't manually lift the blade???

But seriously, I think I'm gonna try that out... looks nice!!!

@WHGuy413  take advantage of the no complaints  and add some  function detailing to what they are doing , kids today  don't  have a clue , always give my grandkids  a background  as to what they are doing , its like turning on a switch , when they start to  join the conversation with interest and curiosity  , just matter of fact  reason  for doing it that way  ,  reason and  courtesy  , has turned my  grandkids  into  interested  people  , grampa , pete
